Me Sir, Me Sir, I know, I know what it is, pick me.
It is a Fruit Bat or commonly known here as a Flying Fox. One look at his face tells you why he got that common name. They are very big and used to knock off my pears and banana's each year. Unfortunately mainly in the Queensland area they carry the Hendra virus and many horses have died from it. It is extremely contagious and even a few vets have died from the virus. They also carry the Lyssavirus which is also fatal to humans. They are also disliked by orchardists as they eat much of their fruit every year. They have very sharp teeth.
