Baby, Our Cockatiel

Bill adopted Baby this past May, after our Donald flew to the Bridge unexpectedly.

We aren't sure of Baby's age, but he was young when he came to live here with us.

Baby had been coddled by females at the pet store he was at, so bonded to women. Bill wanted Baby to bond to him, so I was instructed to stay away from Baby! As I already have my own clinging vine, the pied lovebird, Mr. Turkle, my beak wasn't out of joint.

Within a month of Baby's arrival, he and Bill bonded, and now those two are thick as thieves, same as Bill and Donald were.

Baby isn't a year old yet, of that we're sure, and he's so smart! Not only that, he not only whistles, but he is talking.

Bill works a lot outside during the warm months, and Baby has been given his language lessons by me. Following the strict instructions not to go near Baby, I called from the computer room to him, repeating the same phrases over and over again.

He's got the most appealing raspy voice. :)

He rasps, "Baby, oh, Baby, I love to call you Baby" (after that old song) *click click click click" "You're so cute, Baby! Gimme a kiss!"

Time to teach him to rasp, "Go, Habs, Go!"

Cockatiel voices are hilarious! Sounds like you've got quite the little character there. One of the cockatiel chicks I bred this year has an amazing collection of whistles, his favourite being the Game of Thrones theme
