One of my female Lutino Lovebird is suffering from itching problem since February last year. She laid eggs and was sitting on the eggs for exactly 24 days, unfortunately the eggs were not hatched n she stopped sitting on the eggs but from that time onward she is scratching her body a lot. I took her to different vets (as no Avian vet is available here in Dubai) and they gave different treatments like multivitamins, “Sleeky” spray for flees n lice, and even Pif-Paf powder to sprinkle under her feathers. I tried all these things but no improvement is seen.
I learned from the net about flees, lice and mites, but no similar thing is visible on the feathers.
Overall bird looks healthy, eating well and poops are also normal. Only one change, i.e the male bird have developed red coloration on almost all of his body, but he is not having that itching problem, and I learned from net that his problem may be due to sunlight defficiency. That I'm trying to fix.
I feel very sorry for my female bird Lovely and want to do anything to make her comfortable, please can anyone guide me what should I do ?. I have posted my questions on various bird forums (not here)but nobody replied or helped me.
To add to your information I want to tell you all that I give my birds water for bathing regularly, i.e once a week and multivitamins once a month. I also give them fresh fruits n vegetables.
