I was at my bird store today and they had packages of Chia Seed. 1/2 lb bags for $4.99

It is a tiny black seed and is supposed to be full of omega-3 oil. They said to sprinkle some on his pellets, or on fresh fruits and veggies. I give Maxx some warm Birdie Bread in the morning so this should be perfect for that.

Anyone else use it?

Let us know how he likes it. The only "Chia" I've heard of are those gastly "ChiaPets" they advertise every Christmas, probably for the last 30 years!

I'd start with a small amount because they gel and expand A LOT when wet. Put a few in a dish with a bit of water and you will see. People eat them because they are supposedly very good for you. If you google them you can see all the health benefits of eating them. The one thing I saw that was a negative was since they can lower blood pressure in people they say not to eat them if you are on blood pressure meds. I actually just bought some a few weeks ago for me. Maybe I'll share them with the birds.
