bird photos :)

on holiday, we came across a public aviary. they were actually in quite a few towns, but this aviary was literally the best. it was a massive dome shape - think really really big. inside the dome were lovebirds, lorikeets, cockatiels, budgies, indian ringnecks, and some other birds i didn't recognize, all flying round. they had trees, and ponds, and rocks, and nestboxes in there. then along one side of the dome were the smaller backyard sized aviaries - in them were different birds: galahs, lorikeets, ringnecks, conures, king parrots. it was an absolutely awesome place.

the best bit was you could walk inside the dome!!! and be within a meter of the birds with no bars. and you could stand right in front of the small aviaries too

i took some photos and i'll share a few here

I want an aviary like that! they have one in the queens zoo by my house with a ramp that takes you up and around, and I'm always thinking that if I ever had a large yard, I am totally building one of those!
