The new 'bird room'

So since losing all of my birds, I wanted to convert that old bird room too a new one, but in a different manner so to speak. I thought it would be a nice way of remembering them

The photos don't do it justice as it's really, really turquoise, but here's the wallpaper

Here's the cupboard door (I used to store toys and food in here)

Here's the back of the door

I love it so far. I've gotten a charcoal grey sofa bed, a beech coloured TV stand (which I'm using to put a viv on) and various decorations. I have yet to do the floor, which will be beech laminate and hopefully it will be finished next week. I'll post photos when the room is finished

Just thought I'd share, trying to move on

I don't think I'm ever going to go over it. I cannot discuss things here for legal reasons, but a lot has been going on since it all happened and I have been at my lowest. I became suicidal and I started making myself quite bad. My fiance had an emergency number at hand to call in case I flipped out or anything. I've left college again. Just a nervous shell of my self. It's been absolutely horrible. Only a few days ago was a finally able to mourn the losses of my birds. I had been so stressed with everything that I hadn't even had time to think and it was only when I saw that Jack and his family had all helped out to decorate the room that I realized the birds weren't there and aren't there any more. I miss them so, so much. They've been a big part of my life. The last time I was birdless I was somewhere between 6-8 years old. I still have my aviary birds, but they have yet to be moved from my grandparents due to us trying to make the house more secure. I am hoping to get an aviary up in the next few months for my red fronted kakarikis to be moved over as a start. I feel very empty. Sorry for the moaning, I guess I just have a lot pent up

I'm sorry that you are feeling so bad. But mourning and redecorating the room are first steps back to life.

I am so sorry for your losses. I think these are good first steps to getting to a better place. You are right, you will probably never forget what happened but you can get to a better place over time. Doing things like this will help.

My heart breaks for you, Daisy. I lost my beloved budgie, Sammy, last February. I stayed up with him all night holding him. He died in my hands. I still can't think about him without crying. I truly cannot image what you have gone through. Because you shared pictures and the stories of the lives of each of your birds with us, I feel the loss of them and cried right along with you. All we can really do is take one baby step at a time toward healing. I think even something as simple as wallpaper can be a small step in that direction. You can "moan" to us anytime, I think everyone here understands your grief completely. We're here for you. You're in my thoughts and my prayers.

And God said, "...let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." And God saw that it was good.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We have to deal with it in our own way and time. It starts with one day at a time. Love your wallpaper and room. It's your new comfort zone. You will make it back to the good life!

Thank you everybody. Bit of an update I decided to move the sofa up now as the floor isn't going to be done for a little while. I'm loving it though. It doubles up as a bed! So comfy too. I went with light blue cushions to match the paper and the middle one has 2 birds on it. I also have some birdy art on the wall too

It IS my comfy perch. I'm sat here right now. The room isn't fully finished at all but it's just so nice and cozy. My own bubble!
