Started my new job!

As the title says, I'm working! I have had voluntary jobs in the past, all working with animals, but being as they were voluntary I wasn't getting any money for them. I have been battling anxiety and so kept dropping out of various courses and didn't feel stable enough to get a job. Jack (fiance) has been working at a care home now for perhaps two years now. Recently, one of the ladies there had retired and Jack was going to take over her 21 hours (he has to go to university too so can't work full time just yet) and I have now taken Jack's 15 hours It's so nice to finally be having a decent bit of money coming into the house and it means I can spoil my animals a bit more than I have been. All of the money I was getting was going on the house, bills, food and of course vet care and food for the animals too. I have been getting on really well there and haven't been anxious one bit yet I think I have surprised myself to say the least I've been going there for the last few weeks

As this job is only 15 hours and I want to be working a lot more to help provide for us and the critters, I applied for a second job on the 5th... fingers crossed I get it. I've never been let down before so I know if I am I will be very upset Nobody has said anything nice about it yet. Family and friends have all said "well don't get your hopes up" and such. I do get it, yes, but at the same time having a negative attitude is only going to make it worse! This job will be working in a pet store so it will be nice to be doing something with animals. Plus, 20% discount on everything means that I will get loads more animal goodies. That job is for 16 hours and I can slot it in among my other job. My application was pretty good, if I do say so myself, so I reeeeeeeeeeeeeaally hope I can get it. I checked on the website yesterday to see if there were any updates and ohhhh my life had I not of done it on the 5th by complete chance that I stumbled across it, I would never have gotten it because apparently the end of that day was the deadline too! Eeek! Wish me luck

Good Luck Daisy... My 23 yo son also suffers from anxiety, but he manages to keep himself going with a bit of help from his step dad and I. We all have had some rough times because of it... he is now working at a job that is right for him (and making decent money , which helps) and is working on getting his drivers license and a car... He was such a happy go lucky kid and then his Dad died when he was 11 and its been a struggle ever since! Anyhow... not to be a downer...lol I am happy to hear that you are out and about and working... I hope you get the new job too!!

I'm sorry to hear you've all had it rough I've been on and off hermit for years! I have periods where I'm okay and I can go out and do things but then I'll have months where I'm the complete opposite. I've been trying really hard to overcome it. If I don't get this job I won't apply for any more, I don't want to push myself into uncomfortable situations!

I believe in you Daisy! With your experience caring for animals, any one would be blessed to have you working for them. Have faith in yourself, don't ever give up and don't ever quit! Even if you don't get this particular job (which they would be CRAZY not to snap you up!!), with your expertise, there's a perfect job out there somewhere waiting for you. You have so much compassion, kindness, knowledge and love of animals, some one out there needs you and I'm praying for you that you find that place. You hang in there and you go girl!

And God said, "...let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." And God saw that it was good.

I wish you luck! It sounds like you have a decent chance at getting the job, so definitely stay positive. Remember, you have what it takes to do the job well. You have to be intentional, firm, and confident when thinking about it, because thoughts do effect your actions. If you are confident that you can do it, then they will believe you. I don't know why people say things like that to others---don't get your hopes up :/. Hope keeps us motivated, so always keep your hopes up! Even if you don't get it (which I don't see why you wouldn't), just remember it doesn't mean that you were a bad candidate, it just meant that there was only one slot and they had to choose only one person. I am on hiring committees several times a year and more often than not, it is a hard decision too choose just one person because there are several that are awesome. And don't ever give up! You can never give up-a slight push of yourself is good because once you succeed (you will as long as you keep trying) it does in fact boost your confidence and helps you continue to grow as a person. Keep us updated. We are all sending positive energy your way .

I understand and I imagine there will be a lot of people applying for it too (still can't believe I caught it on the same day it was closing!) but I believe in my self, even if friends and family don't. Thanks a bunch though, everybody here has been so nice!

Oh, I forgot to congratulate you on your new position Very exciting. It is the best when you find a job that you not only are good at, but that the environment is comfortable. Unfortunately, the environment is usually why people either hate or love their job, not the job itself.

Well said Sparrow!

Daisy, I share Sparrows thoughts even though I've only known you a very short time through a computer screen.

Firstly, congratulations on getting the first job, albeit it only part time.

Secondly, my thoughts are with you regarding the second job, and I have everything crossed that I can cross.

Cheers,

John.

to your new job, Daisy.
I wish you a happy time working there.
I'm sure you can increase self confidence when you see you can achieve something.
We cross all fingers and claws that you'll get the job in the pet store too.

I haven't heard from the second job I'm still doing okay in my first one and hopefully, as somebody is off for a few months, I will be covering a second job at the care home while I search for another. I'm trying to save up for some driving lessons and a car as well as my outdoor bird room to be updated

Let's hope that no news is good news as far as the second job goes Daisy, but I've still got everything crossed for you.

Cheers,

John.

Don't be too disappointed, Daisy!
Some employers are like that, I know by myself from the time I had to apply for jobs.
I wish you all the best for your driving licence and your first car. I know you will do that.
