Amra

I was going to wait to tell you guys because I wasn't for sure, but I can't hold in my excitement any longer!

Guys, I think I am getting a PUPPY!!

After randomly surfing the internet, I came across this stunning dog. I showed my mom and my mom completely fell for her. I showed my dad, and as much as he tried to hide it, I know he thought she was adorable.

I managed to convince my mom to convince my dad to let me send an email to the shelter who is keeping her, and so I've just sent an email asking if she's still available and asking for an application.

Here is a picture of Amra:

She is four and a half hours away, and my mom is willing to drive that far to get her, so that shows how gorgeous this baby is!

They aren't for sure, but they think she is some kind of mix of Dalmatian. They say was dumped at a kill shelter. She is very sweet and gets along with other dogs and people.

The application process should go quickly and smoothly and so if she is available we will probably get her very soon.

If she is not available, we probably won't end up getting another dog, at least not anytime soon. My parents just really fell for this one, so I'm crossing my fingers and praying that she is available and we meet all requirements. Pray and cross your fingers with me, guys, please!!!!

She is cute. How big is she? When I first looked at her, I thought she had some dachshund in her.

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!

She is a baby, she weighs 13 pounds now but the ad says she will probably get no bigger than 30 pounds, but since they aren't sure on the mix, they can't exactly predict. They say it is some kind of Dalmatian/Setter mix, but they are guessing.

Yeah I springers Julia

Aww Abby I completely understand how you feel these people were supposed to give me this dog that was boarding at our kennel and I had bought her stuff and made a relationship over the week, well it turns out they had a daughter and she freaked that they were selling the dog and decided to keep it.

So I get the pain, when you really want a dog its like you know it, even though you havnt met it, but if you couldn't get this dog it seems that something even better is waiting for you and if you just hold on a little while longer it'll come for you So don't worry I'm sure you'll retrieve your Soul Puppy

Aww Abby I am sorry. You should contact a rescue of the breed you like and fill out your app in advance so you will know if there is any problems. We got our rottweiler from a rottweiler rescue in Texas. She was taken to New Orleans by Rescue Transport and we drove there (8 Hrs) to pick her up.

Hey, guys.
We've been looking nonstop for dogs. We've changed from considering shelter dogs, to just looking at puppies from breeders and other older dogs that need to be rehomed, just because we don't want to have another let down. We unfortunately don't have a fence in our backyard, which we've gotten by with fine having dogs but most shelters won't let us have a dog if we don't. It's a long process filling out adoption forms and such, so we don't want to have to go through the hassle and then get let down and told we can't have it.
We are having some luck searching online and we are making calls and sending emails. Hopefully we'll have a dog soon! I'm very excited and although I couldn't get Amra (who is probably the most beautiful dog I have ever seen) I will be getting another great doggy friend.
Wish us luck, I'll keep you guys updated.

Not really, just looking to see what we can find. My parents are being a bit picky. No boys, no big dogs, no dogs that shed a ton, no pit bulls or pit bull mixes, no terriers, no dogs over $200.
What I've been looking at now are Brittany Spaniels. They are adorable, shed little, are medium sized, and seem like nice dogs. I've found two females for sale in our area and I'm going to ask my mom about them when she gets up.

My son had a brittany that he showed in 4-H when he was young. He was one of the most entertaining dogs I've ever known. He would use his feet like hands, and he could turn door knobs and open doors. At times, he would open the back door and come inside the house, run around until he found my son, play with him for a bit, and then let himself back outside the front door. It was a little disconcerting the first time it happened, but we got used to it, lol. He loved my son, and he wanted very much to obey him, but sometimes he would just get too wound up. Even though brittanys are hunting dogs, he did not bother our cockatiel, conure, or lory. He was wonderful with our other dogs, a dachshund and a great pyrennese. (I'm sure that is spelled incorrectly.) My brother-in-law let him out our gate one day, and he disappeared. When he crawled back nearly two days later, his back was broken. We did all the veterinary care we could. My son did a wonderful job helping him through his convalescent period, but he never recovered. He got better for a while, and then he just started to deteriorate. It was very sad.

Brittanys are wild and crazy dogs. You need to know that before you take one on. They go all the time, and they are more wound up that the most wound up puppy you could ever imagine. They are like that for their entire lives, and then they die. I have known 15 year old brittanys. They are still just like puppy brittanys. They love their people.

They do shed some, but no more than cockers, and I think you have had cockers in the past. If you have had a cocker, think of a cocker hyped up about 3 times as much as any cocker on the planet, and that is a brittany. They usually have less health problems than cockers, so that is nice. They kind of look like the picture of Amra, but with orange or liver colored spots instead. I actually think that there might even be black spotted ones in other countries, but I am not certain.

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!

Abby, my hubby was a dog trainer for many years. As a matter of fact, in 1981 I was looking for a protection dog and called Purina Dog Chow for a names of trainers that I could get a schutzhund trained dog and they gave me one name, my hubby's.
He always says Poodles are the smartest dogs, which is why they are used in circus acts, though German Shepherd are the easiest to train. Poodles also don't shed much.
Good Luck in your quest
