Getting to Know Each Other More

I did make another post a few months ago about getting to know each other, feel free to post in that as well (it is currently a sticky) but I thought I'd do another one. There are always new members and it's always nice to get to know a little more about each other. Everyone will seem more real and you can distinguish between everybody better, too.

Okay, so here's a small list of questions for you to answer. Feel free to pick and choose what you want to answer and what information you give out. This is not required, just for fun!

Why you are involved with Talk Parrots:

*Remember that if you are under 18, we do not allow you to reveal your exact age, or that you are under 18, and we limit the information you give out about yourself. Please refer to the rules thread for more explanation.
**Country and state are fine but try to refrain from anymore than that. It's nice to discover where all our birdy friends are from, but we also need to be safe!

First name: Daisy (call me Dee!)
Age: 19 soon to be 20
Location: West Midlands, UK
Occupation: I work in a care home
Years involved with birds: Around 13-14 years I believe
Birds you currently own: Budgies, cockatiels, red fronted kakariki, yellow fronted kakariki, black cheeked lovebirds, diamond dove, Japanese quails, American kestrel and Harris' hawk. I have owned far more species than listed here but due to either psittacosis or another unfortunate happening I no longer have my companion parrots
Birds you hope to own: I'd be here all day if I listed them I'm afraid
Favorite bird species: I adore the hyacinth macaw, but I'm a really huge fan of other species too!
Why you are involved with Talk Parrots: I've been on here around 4? years now (I think!) and I just can't leave. I've had some serious ups and downs in my life but since joining the forum I have had a group of kind, considerate people to talk to, bird related or not

Woo, another Edmontonian, ha.
I can say now that having a baby won't really make you have less time with your Parrots. It'll probably make you have MORE time with your birds as you'll be home for at least a few months. :P

I have to consider my husband's sanity too though :P I bird sat a co-worker's GCC and he HATED the screeching flock calls she did. I think two p'lets and my two cats is the perfect limit for myself. I just wish p'lets were more readily available here though =/ I'm on a waiting list for a baby with a breeder in BC...as of now..the egg doesn't even exist yet lol...oh well

First name: Nikki
*Age: 27
**Location: Alberta, Canada
Occupation: 2 occupations... Part-Time TD Bank and Full-Time Nursing Student going for my Bachelor's Degree... Might be casual as a Nursing attendant if all goes well starting in January...
Years involved with birds: Well I had my fist budgie at the age of 7yrs he lasted from 1995-2000 when he died of what we think might have been a heart attack. I got a new budgie a few years after had her for a while don't remember dates she was evil and we gave her to my moms friend who had a whole aviary.. Then got my first Parrotlet about 3-4years ago..
Birds you currently own: 4 in total: 2 Lineolated Parakeets (Creamino named Belle and a Blue Cobalt named Lilo), A Rose Crown Conure named Zoey, a Pacific Parrotlet named Tico.
Birds you hope to own: This should be Birds you wish to own but probably won't get because then people might consider you absolutely nuts lol ... honestly though I would have loved for a Golden Conure!!! I can't get them out of my mind but they are crazy endangered and insanely expensive $4-5,000.00 in Canada if you can get your hands on even one. They recommend 2 to preserve the species and breeding... I would have liked another Rose Crown, I would also have liked a Quaker... I can't think of anything more at the moment but I know there are many more...
Favorite bird species: Rose Crown Conure, Wonderful personality, friendly, snuggly and quieter then my parrotlet!
Why you are involved with Talk Parrots: I moved over from the old Lineolated talk forum which I believe is gone now...
