I was so confused at first. I said to myself, "What happened to the white on her face?" Then I realized in the first adult photo her tail is covering most of her face.

It's late.

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!

Awww, she's beautiful I can't wait to get a cat!! Gareth is adamant we MUST have a black cat first. Calico, tabby, tortie, siamese... there are so many pretty colors and he wants boring black! :madtongue: Silly goth boy I really want a silver tabby... if we can afford it, I've convinced him our second cat will be a silver, green eyed Egyptian Mau

she can be a bit feisty, she takes after her father. right now shes chewing on the blinds... shes a brat, shes nosy, shes clingy, and very demanding. shes also a very one person cat. she hates my fiance. wont go near him. she runs from him when he tries to pet her. but she follows me everywhere, she meows and meows and meows if im even looking at another pet or talking to another pet... she gets jealous easily lol. her coat, though shes a longhair, is low maintenance. she has no undercoat and her coat is very silky. she does not need brushing often, but i brush all our cats anyways. shes cousin to our cat Daystar. like daystar, she wont be done growing until 2 years old. she still has to fill out.

shes our proposal kitty lol. my fiance wanted to adopt a cat from the humane society for our proposal and put the ring on the collar... but i hadnt known and i adopted gylfie from my aunt's feral cat program. so he improvised and took a photo of gylfie when she was little and put the ring on her collar and proposed with the photo lol

3 of our cats were ferals but 2 of them still have feral qualities. that be daystar and gylfie. theyre very very shy, company rarely ever sees them. daystar is the shyest. our 4th cat is a stray (difference between a feral and a stray is that ferals were born wild and never owned by humans. strays were owned once by humans.). my aunt has a feral colony she feeds and supports and gets them fixed and medicated. she adopts out kittens that are adoptable and supports the rest. both daystar and gylfie are adopted from her program and i have a special place in my heart for ferals. its hard to earn their trust. daystar took a year and a half to stop hiding around my fiance. she runs for dear life if he comes in the room, but she no longer hides. its a big improvement. im the only one who can interact with daystar. she loves bellyrubs, shes very gentle, she cuddles with me every morning. but shes the shyest cat ive ever met. ill likely always own ferals.

gylfie's father Mikey, hes a big orange and white longhair. most ferals live most up to 5 years with care, 2 years without care. mikey is about 15 by now and still strong and healthy and hes an outdoor feral. though you can pet him on his own terms. hes whacked my aunt in the face and given her a black eye, and gylfie has that same hit, she can smack you really hard lol she looks a lot like him too. ill have to find a photo of him lol

Aww she's so cute.

I prefer kittens over cats, though, but her 'now' is so beautiful.

American short hair I suppose would be the generic breed, but he wants to rescue one from the local shelter He's not too picky, he just wants an all (or mostly) black cat with short hair. Tho knowing him any kitten he sees will likely get grabbed; for a big "manly" man kittens are certainly his weak point, he melts into a school girl like state and starts cooing and giggling at them and can't stop himself

if you want a compromise, get a black scottish fold, devon or cornish rex, manx, or even a polydactyl cat (cat with extra toes). it would be different than a regular black cat in looks. a black sphynx would be awesome too, but they need some special care for their bare skin lol

the sphynx cat is my favourite breed, but i'd never go out and buy one. i'd end up taking in a cat in need of a home first, thats how i am lol

i love black cats, theyre usually mellow

I really don't mind - he's agreed our second cat can be the breed I like, because he likes the breed too, so I'm all for adopting our first cat from the shelter. I would love to rescue an Egyptian Mau as well, there's a fantastic rescue group where you're providing a legitimate Egyptian Mau from Egypt a home and people sponsor them to be shipped across the globe to a good home, but I can't trust any older cat in my home with the birds. I know there's a chance for them to be ok, but there's also a chance that since they were feral they're bird hunters and I won't risk my flock So my only condition to him is any cat we bring in the house must be a kitten so it grows up knowing birds are off limits. I feel bad, because every time I go to a shelter or rescue I want to bring home the older cat, the one missing an eye, leg, etc because everyone wants a kitten and no one likes older cats, but with the birds I just can't take that chance, or I would never forgive myself if something happened

2 of our cats were already adults when we got birds. ive had no problems from those two. jessie is terrified of birds. she runs if they flap their wings in their cage lol.

gylfie was a kitten when i got her and i already had the birds. SHE was a problem, shes the one who killed Toby, but it was a freak accident.

destiny we took in as an adult, and she is a problem too.

so i think its more the individual cat rather than age. kittens think everything is a toy, so an older calmer cat might be a better idea. gylfie was hiding under our couch and i didnt know when i took toby out. i had checked but didnt see her. toby flew out of my hands and she ran out and grabbed him. she didnt bite him, she clawed him, she chased him like a toy because to her thats what he was. she wasnt trying to eat him... just a fast small bright object flew in front of her nose and she thought it was a toy. so a kitten may think a bird is a toy and cause problems where an older cat not so inclined on playing may work for you.

maus i hear are keen hunters and very acrobatic and fast. i think i'd be scared to have one around birds lol theyre the fastest domestic cat, they have a special flap of skin on their bellies that allow this. theyre very good jumpers too. but theyre sweet and affectionate cats. theyre a very very good breed, i love them too.
