Where have I been!?

Hello hello hello!

It's SO good to be back. It's been way too long

Long story short - I couldn't access my account but due to life events I haven't been able to even attempt to get in as much as I'd of liked to. I have had two family deaths in the past two months. I walked out of my job (I'm now pursuing a new career). I had to stay in hospital for a few days (I won't discuss why) and I've had an estimated month to recover. I haven't been very well at all and the whole experience was awful BUT I'm doing okay now. I have a lot of support

All of the animals are doing great. I'm currently having to assist feed some cockatiel chicks but I'll be making a thread about that for you all. They're doing really well! I'm not breeding much this year, I've only had two clutches of budgies! I've managed to almost finish the new bird room but for the reasons stated above I haven't been able to get it how I want it just yet

See you around!

welcome back! Sorry to hear about the two deaths my heart aches for you. I hope the choice to leave your job was for a better health outcome as you said you were hospitalized and that its not a further stress on you and causing you more issues. I'm a third year nursing student so I know how fast people's health can decline with more stress. I wish you better health and to take care of yourself. I am also glad you have a wonderful support...

I have also been away because I couldn't access my account. I've been locked out with no real reason why. said my password and logon was wrong. I finally got back on yesterday. I recently lost my DAD. He died suddenly of a heart attack in his sleep. I am an only child and he died in my opinion really young. He was 54yrs. I've had a lot of death over the last three years. So I truly feel for you. Please take care! and Welcome Back!

Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, that must be awful. I don't have a good relationship with either of my parents as I was taken into care and don't have much contact with them, I can only imagine what it's like to have amazing parents and then losing them! Awful

Daisy I am so sorry to hear about your losses and for your health issues. I know only too well how stress can damage your health as I am going through the same thing at the moment. Too long a story to go into but just to say unfortunately I have sold my house to a dishonourable man and I have just been ripped off to the tune of 20K. On the bright side settlement is today and I pick up my new car this afternoon. In 2 weeks I will be in my new home and will be out of this disaster.

I am glad that all your animals are doing fine and I am sure you will get your bird room just how you want it soon. I will have to organize getting my new aviary complex constructed and transported to my new home and make up at least 4 large cages for my Cockatoo's, a cat cage for my Fluffy and a yard for my dogs at the back of the house. So I will be having a very busy time.

Glad that everything seems to be sorting itself out for you.

I'm glad you're getting the support you need. I feel for people who don't have anybody to turn to. Life has ways of testing us but with support from others we can do anything!

Thank you Kate, it's nice hearing from you! People can be awful can't they? We got a mortgage last year and I mean as first time buyers we weren't guaranteed anything glamorous or lovely but we did find a house that we loved and could certainly make it our own. It was beautifully decorated in a style I'd of chosen so I knew nothing would need doing for a while. When we toured the house it was so nice and perfect. The old owners had quite a few dogs and two of them were puppies. When we moved in, all the doors had been trashed, wallpaper scratched, walls chewed on and woodwork ruined. They even got sharpie all over the wallpaper upstairs! I couldn't do anything about it, but I was SO angry and upset. I know it's nothing on your situation but it's certainly frustrating

It's all well planning for new aviaries and bird rooms etc. but when you've got so much going on it can be overwhelming can't it? I'm in that position at the moment. I've been put back months because of walking out of my job but I have a MUCH better job I'll be going into very soon that I can work up in. I'm very happy with it. The pay is a lot more than I've been on before and I have a small morning job at the moment which is paying for all the animals. It sounds like you've got a lot to do! I would like to build an outdoor enclosure for my cat. Have you seen catios? Where they come from the house onto the patio haha?

So glad Daisy that you found a home that was right for you. Sad that so much damage had been done but remember the good bones of the house are still there and a coat of paint can do wonders.

Happily my new home is just perfect. It has been fully renovated with hard wood floors throughout. Two bathrooms, separate dining room, verandah half front and side, 3 bedrooms, a room I am going to use as a sitting room/sewing room between the master bedroom and the ensuite, enclosed verandah at the back that I am going to use as my hand raising room, and a beautiful kitchen with dishwasher and a Falcon stove by Aga, and a carport that I am going to make half of as a free flight area for my pet cockatoo's. I am getting the proper soft netting that they use for the walkthrough aviaries and I am using the same netting for the cat enclosure. All this on half an acre with a five bay lock up garage. It is in a small country town of less than 300 people but close to our national capital.

I have seen what you call the catios they are great. Mine is a little easier as I had an old canopy for my trailer that I have pulled apart and I will put that back up with the netting for the cat with the back enclosed and a half solid roof for the weather and the rest netting. Once the dogs and cat get used to each other the cat can come inside for much of the time. My new aviaries are 5.96 mtr long, 1.52 mtr wide and 4 bays with separate doors and heavy duty bird wire. They will arrive in pieces and I just have to have the concrete slab put down and the aviary then put together. Will be paying someone to do that, or get friendly with a couple of locals to put it up.

This is my forever home as at just on 65 I could not move again.

Wow Kate it looks beautiful! Really really nice and it sounds like you're going to be very happy there I love it when you have somewhere that can accommodate your needs. Unfortunately, to do what I want I'd need a fair few acres and space like that isn't easily available here. You'll have to show me a picture of your cockatoo flight. Sounds like a good idea! I was under the impression you didn't have your birds indoors and just had aviary birds haha!

No Daisy none of my birds are inside. The tame Cockatoo's are in large cages under an awning at the back of the house. My friend who is an Avicultural supplier has obtained some heavy duty mesh and I am going to be making new larger cages for them and they will go under the carport. The house I am in now is not suited to having birds inside even out of cage but the new house is, so I will be able to bring my Charlie inside to socialize with me as well as having the walk in flight under the carport. Once I have everything set up (which will take a few weeks) I will surely post some pictures for you. It is a lovely picturesque small village and was the home of our most famous poet A. B. (Banjo) Paterson who wrote our unofficial national anthem of Waltzing Matilda. When researching I found out I have family links to Banjo and to his wife. I knew that I had some family links to the area so I may even find that I have some relatives down there.

We went down to the house on Saturday to get the keys and take all my suspended aviaries, feed drums and as much of my bird stuff and tools that would fit in the truck. You would love it. On the way down there were Sulphur Crested Cockatoos and Galah's all along the way from about 100km away from the house to the house. There has been a lot of rain down there this winter and the seeding grasses are all the way along the side and middle of the road (It's a divided highway). When we arrived there was a Galah just wandering around the side yard. Down there is a big wool sheep area and there are a few in the paddock across the road and next to that there are Alpaca's. Both adjoining properties and behind has horses. I couldn't be happier. The only downside is I have to leave my 93 year old father back here in Sydney. I was very teary last night saying goodbye to him and my stepmother as I may not get another chance to see them now before I leave. So I may be offline for a few days during the move but I am hoping to have my phone line and internet connection done before I arrive, so it will limit the time I am offline. But I maybe able to use my prepaid wifi in a pinch. Looks like I will be down there on the 30th September.

Whew! I also have been locked out of my account and not been able to get in.

I'm so sorry for your losses, and sadly we too have lost two people in the last four months, one on my side and one on my husbands.
Life sure can be turned upside dow in an instant.

Glad you both are doing well along with all animals. I am doing well too and birds are wonderful. I'm glad to be back on here.:-)
