I really love our native raptors. When we moved out from my grandparents I was so sad that I didn't see any of them about any more. Now we've moved back to this semi-rural area I have plenty! The Eurasian buzzards from up the fields set up a nest in the woods behind my house. I took a few photos when I had a camera on me but most of the time I just observed out of the window so I didn't disturb them
Here's momma bird from up the fields
She's a huge girl. The kids in the street by me kept exclaiming there was an eagle in the woods
After the chicks got their wings, I witnessed momma bird passing food to her chicks to teach them to hunt. It's not a good photo, but I was still so happy I saw it! Literally upside down catching that food
For a while I had the young birds landing on the roof behind me every day. The poor thing was being mobbed by magpies constantly and didn't bat an eyelid
I realised after some time that the cock bird comes from the park behind the woods. They have an enormous territory! The chicks have now moved on but they had 2
I hope they come back next year!
