Anyone Have a Boxer?

I've just seen an ad here for a free Boxer puppy. A doctor in town is leaving and the puppy needs a home. Boxers are such beautiful animals, but I'm a little concerned as to how much shedding and how much drooling? Anyone with experience?

Neither is really bad. I had one when I was younger! She was a great dog.
I would jump on that!

Sharon, I have a 10 year old boxer/lab mix. I can't say much for the drool because she only has slight jowels. The hair builds up on the carpet and the blankets we give her to lay on. I only have a problem with it on my clothes if I have gone a week without vacuuming or she really rubs against me. I love dogs, but I really can't stand having pet hair all over the place either. The first three years boxers are notoriously energetic, think bull in a china shop. And, they are forever feet first. It is a lot of work to train them not to jump up on people. To this day, Becky wants to pet me back when I rub her. She just can't understand that it hurts when she does it. . But, she is THE most loyal dog I have ever had and is healthy as a horse. Do you think you could being the boxer home for a week end to see how it goes? Becky is only mildly curious about the rabbit and Zucchini, but you never know. Good luck with what ever you decide.

I've never had a problem with the hair being everywhere when we had Sam, in fact I never noticed it. As for drooling however he was a nightmare, though I've seen ones much worse

I've just finished Levi's and Fred's bedtime cuddle. Then I got the other birds settled for the night, cleaned Fred's day cage for tomorrow, and finished the dishes. Imagine if I had a Boxer to walk and then brush....I don't know what I could have been thinking!
