OK...how is that boot sticking to the tree like that?

Still that's a nice nest...warm & waterproof...& indestructible.

You can screw or nail through the side of the heel of the boot into the tree. Long screws or nails would be needed then you need to do it to the toe of the boot to keep the boot from moving at all.

They have been doing this in the UK for quite a while. They are providing safe nesting for small birds as their traditional sites are diminishing. The old boots are a great idea as they are waterproof and nice and cosy and cheap. Great way to recycle old boots instead of throwing them in the trash.

That's such a good idea! I haven't heard of people doing this before. When my two pairs of Doc Martens die eventually some time in the very distant future I may have to turn them into nesting sites
