Hmmmm

So, as some of you awesome TP members know, I just might get another birdie friend this holiday season!! But first I have to convince my parents Convincing my dad is easy, but his mind changes every 3 seconds My mom is like a brick, not allowing a single thing in the house with out her consent I've decided on making a powerpoint presentation to show to my parents this Sunday I'm kinda really nervous because I have no clue if I'll be smiling at the end or crying I've put in why I should get another bird (Diego's health/ depression issues), (He's staying alone for 4-5 hours since schools started ) What else should I put? I've also put that budgies are flock animals I'd love to here some good ideas that I could put in my presentation to make it better I've also put cute photos of budgies and tiels and cute videos too

Missing you always

OOH crying works well LOL JUST KIDDING~

you should put the ways you would take care of the other bird ( clean cage.. equal play time etc,)

List some birds you have in mind along with facts about each bird.. showing you have done your research

and at the end show a pic of you.. saying I LOVE YOU!! LOL that always melts thier hearts <3 LOL

good luck keep us updated!

Icicis- Green cheek conure

"Even if you don’t want to get another bird
after my amazing presentation and want to
make me feel very, very sad, I'm ok with it because I understand you decision

But Diego will be so lonely....."

I'm no good at convincing anyone so can't really give you any advice, but I hope you'll succeed in persuading your parents on getting another bird. I think you should get a tiel. Good luck!

I love all those birds, and if I could I'd get all of them, but the problem is that I've decided to pay for her/him A GCC here is no less then $600 for a handtame / handfed baby, $850 at the pet store and $450 for a older GCC all the way in Sherwood park or St.Albert or Ft. Saskatchewan which are an hour to 3 hours away for me No way my dads driving all the way there to get a expensive bird Lovebirds seem ideal but.... I've heard they're not as cuddly or nice as some other species (They are kinda nippy, so I've heard)

Even if you get a bird that your budgie cannot interact with, watching and hearing and playing parallet to another bird will be good for him. However, do you prefer a bird that your budgie can actually play with? If so, that will narrow your choices a bit.

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!

If you fancy something different to a budgie then if i were you - first choice would be a Cockatiel.

If you fancy something abit more bouncy, cute and cuddly, then Maroon Bellied Conure is a good second choice.

If you like a good talker bird that's not too expensive, cuddly, cute, and funny then Quaker is a good third choice.

Now to the ultimate - the all rounder bird - ideal for everyone! A SENEGAL!

There was a beautiful Sengal at the humane society I'd love a bird that Diego could interact with only when it's out of cage time (all the time except when I'm at school ) I'm scared that if I get another budgie then they would fight and when no ones home lead to possible injuries I'd love to get my hands on a beautiful English can't seem to find any good, healthy show type budgie breeders here A cockatiel seems good, but so do other small parrots

Have you looked into English Budgies? Then it would make a great companion for Diego, be something a little different (bigger, different appearance0 and more mellow so you can handle him/her more Feel free to use this adorable artist's rendition of an English Budgie in your slide show haha They usually run $50-75 at pet shops and breeders usually ask $20-30

Yep! I emailed a English budgie breeder last month who breeds lots of different mutations of both show and pet type budgies She has some beautiful show type violet budgies for only $10 for a tame, but not hand fed budgie!! Sadly she hasn't replied yet

i'd avoid lovebirds. sorry, they can be nasty and are known to kill other birds or even remove toes and beaks.

a bourkes would be nice a cockatiel would too. a linnie would be good too

Thanks for all the input everyone! I've decided to present this evening, so I'm super nervous! The house is spotless and I did all the dishes If anyone can give me facts on cockatiels, linnies, and parrotlets, that would be great! I am eternally grateful (lol I've turned into a aliens from Toy Story )
