Unhappy Search and Rescue Mission

Im beside myself right now. My stepson although he was told numerous times never to touch her let my pygmy mouse Martini out of her cage today and she is now loose in my daghters disaster of a bed room. I spent hours trying to get it cleaned up. We spotted her once but didnt get to her in time. Im so upset and fighting the urge to kill him is VERY difficult. Wish me luck, trying to catch a mouse whose not even an inch long is going to be next to impossible. He didnt even tell us he let her out until my daughter noticed she wasnt in her cage. My poor little fur baby must be so terrified right now!

oh no, hopefully you'll be able to catch it. I've had little animals like that get out before and it really is a nightmare.

Good luck

i used to trap mice to release back outside when they got in my mothers house before the cats got them.

i used the old box and stick technique, i found where they went the most, used a box, propped it up with a lollypop stick, with some of the candy still left on the stick. tootsie roll ones were the best to use. i slanted the stick towards the inside so the mouse had to go under the box to lick the candy on the stick, but in moving the stick, the unstable box fell and trapped the mouse. i then slipped a flat cardboard piece under to catch the mouse and brought it outside. i caught 6 this way. it is humane for those not wanting to kill mice and very effective lol

maybe something like this might help in your case? i hope she does not get stepped on

Thats an idea, the only problem is shes not even half the size of a normal mouse I dont know shed have the weight to trip it but I will give it a try. I dont think shell come anywhere to get stepped on I think shes hiding behind the rntertainment center. Thats where she jumped when my hsband saw her.

you put it at a steep slant with the sticky side down. because shes so small, use a light box. ill draw you up a diagram

the box must be really unbalanced. i have drawn up the diagram to help show you what i mean. the box set up is a tad tricky, and the box should be a lightweight box because shes so small

or, you could tie a string to the stick and put some treats far in the box and sit and wait

it can be left overnight. even leave some of her food near the stick too. in case she gets hungry and you dont catch her by night. i would leave this trap set over night and would 75% of the time had caught a little mouse. if you have cats, lock them in a room they cant get out of with their food, water, and litterbox and block the space under the door with a towel so the mouse cant get IN
