So you know about my multiple reptile syndrome?

Okay okay, you guys know I have a lot of animals by now... don't you ? Well I did say on another thread that I'm hoping to get another bearded dragon. The beardie was taken in by a girl who had it off her boyfriend. She had one of her own but realised when she got together with him that it was not being cared for so she took it back to hers. Her mom said she spends no time with either of them but she'd like his to be rehomed. My uncle said I may be interested so I'm just waiting for the okay so I can get him. He comes with his vivarium and everything. Not only am I getting him, but I'm also taking in another two turtles they're hatchling musks, like Squishy and Squirt. The girl who I am getting them off is on my college course, I don't really talk to her but she knows I know what I am doing so she wanted me to be the first person she asked. I just had to get the okay from Jack and he's totally cool with it I asked her for the tank but she said she's getting another two turtles, yellow bellied sliders hatchlings (unlike my huge one). I found it really unfair how she was just moving them along. She also used to have a leopard gecko but I don't know what happened to it. Either way I'm picking them up next week I really can't wait! When I move out I'll have to have a reptile and fish room, seriously! I can't get enough of them! Turtles are great creatures

Here's the pics of them she has

they're called Junior and Toronto

this puts me up to 11 reptiles at the moment ... tehe!

Thats so great Daisy. I have a thing for turtle as well. Started back in the 80's with the teenage mutant ninja turtles. I was one of the very few girls who had a ninja turtle cake for her birthday. It was so cool.

Love your turtles! You're lucky to be able to take in and care for so many animals.
I would love LOVE a Tortoise but that won't happen for a very long time.

I just tell them I'm having more animals and they're like, okay Daisy as long as you care for them hehe. Its always been the same really. After these though I won't be able to have anything for a while reptile wise until we buy a new turtle tank (one of the special ones). That way I can convert the tank they have now into either a vivarium (I want a leopard gecko really bad!) Or keep it as another turtle tank (I'm hoping for a razor back musk turtle hehe). But after that I can't have any more until I move because there's nowhere else I can put them for the time being. Add the amount of birds I have, 3 dogs, 7 cats and 13 fish hehe. I have a few animals I must say but everybody is well cared for!

Kayla, I really would LOVE a leopard tortoise! I work with two of them and they're just so cool! Massive though hehe.

Shannon, that is so cool! I've read in many places that when the MNT phase came around the pet trade bought in tons of hatchlings in little tubs with palm trees in the middle on little islands in bulk for really cheap but nobody knew how to care for them so loads of them died. Also the kids got fed up of them not doing anything interesting and many of them which managed to get saved by vets and stuff had holes drilled in their shells and some had shells completely broken. I was so sad reading that!

Shannon, if you do get your son one at some point but don't want a completely aquatic one (musks are completely aquatic. Mine have NEVER come out to bask!) But get a semi terrestrial. They go in shallow water but they don't require a whole tank full, or a terrestrial which doesn't require any water to swim in. Even better than that would be a tortoise they're more gentle than turtles IMO.

Hipeopleoftheworld, if you ever pop to the Uk feel free to come over to see my animals haha!

Daisy , those little turtle containers with the palm tree on an island in the middle were out lonnggg before TMNT... I had one back in the late 60's , I bought it from a friend who didn't want it anymore , but as you said I had no clue on how to look after the little baby in it and the poor thing died.

Tortoises are really cool and make great pets, they are just much more expensive than turtles Dunno why, probably something to do with availability, but when I looked at small red-shinned? tortoises they were like $150+ Whereas a small turtle, even the fancier ones, were like $20-50

Oh I don't think I've seen a tortoise under 100! Turtles can be a lot too but for fairly common species it's not too bad

I got a turtle when I was 4-5 years old. I had her for a long time too.

I want a russian tortise. Petco sell them here for around $100.00, I've wanted one for a while now. Though right now I'm debating weither I want anymore reptiles. We'll see when my Iguana gets well.

have you ever used the basking platform that you put on top of the tank? if so do you like it?

I want a turtle topper too for my girls, I'm gong to buy one soon.

Yes Kiwi is a green iguana. She developed a infection in her jaw and so I've been taking extra care of her. I think she's improving, but she still has a ways to go.

Oooh, a Russian Tortoise is the one I want! I saw that some pet stores around here carry them sometimes (I think at Pet Smart or something) for like $90, although I wouldn't get one from them.
There is apparently a really good pet store that sells fish and reptiles in Edmonton that sells them too, which I think I'm going to check out!
Now just to convince the fiance, hahaha. He said to wait till after Christmas. :P

My son just got 3 little red ear slider turtles and is in love with them. All he wants for Christmas is a bigger tank and more turtles. Personally, I don't see what's so great about them - but he doesn't understand why I love birds. To each his own I guess.
