I can sum it up in one word - AMAZING!!!
I got back at 6:00pm but then had to take a shower since my dad said I smell "birdy" and Diego might get sick
OK I'll tell you guys everything from the beginning
I first went there and i was so jittery and excited
Paul Baker (the owner who doesn't know much about birds
) greeted me and a girl named Megan started making me do some sorting
the great thing was they have 2 bold and gold macaws in the huge back room!!! Tony and Coco (?) Coco's 52 (
) and tony was just staying there for the long weekend
So I worked on sorting wild bird seed bags and such and pet their dog (Casey a fat welsh corgi - a real sweetie, she's so cute and the birds aren't scared of her)
Then we started talking about breeding pairs, and stuff
OK then we started feeding the birds
they all get roudybush pellets, nibbles for the tiny birds, mini for the medium birds, and small for the big birds. I looooooove their rainbow lorikeet- we made a special nectar mix for Picasso and he wanted to play peek a boo with me
They have african greys up for breeding and when the babies are born I just might be handfeeding!!!
There was this adorable pair of baby tiels around 8 months old both female and they love me
they were eating my glasses and nibbling my hair and were fighting
over head scratchies!
The 2 cockatiels were handfed by Megan (i think
) and they were sold to a girl about 8 or 9. It turned out that she had allergies and they gave them back to the store just last tues. They are 2 absolute sweethearts and they def stole my ♥heart♥ I met the girl and her mother today, they seemed so happy to see them
the girl was so sad and they come almost every month to meet them. I would get them in a heartbeat but $300....
2 people came for bird sitting and one lady had a 6 months old cinnamon GCC and a 6 month old sengal
The sengal was such a cutie! He flew to my head and started making "flirting" sounds with my fingers
The GCC was a calm little girl until we closed the cage door, thats when she went hyper
I also got to play with a meyers that BFAS was birdsitting. He's 5 years old and stayed on my hand for a little bit but then went back to his owner. He's a only bird with a house filled with 3 dogs that are terrified of him
Then we talked about a bunch of things (all bird related
) I made "mush" for the macaws and fed it to them by spoon (so mannered
) turns out that they make such a big mess when eating out of a spoon! the much was all over my hand!
I kept on opening the tiels (Tango and Rico, although they are both girls - full grey body, spots under the tail feathers, and they already had their molt) cage to play with them
They hopped straight onto my palm and up onto my shoulder and wouldn't go in when I stuck my hand in the cage
I did a bunch of other things but to tired to type
wowzers that was a long post!
