This photo is amazing! I've always known that woodpeckers search for grubs, so drill into trees -- but to cache nuts in trees is new to me! A wondrous
efficient birb, for certain! ❤️️

Are there no squirrels in this birbs neighborhood? I can imagine a squirrel or a hoard of them having a party with this amount of nuts all stored nicely in Nature's Display Window like this.

The pood wecker would end up chasing the squirrels around and fighting them to retrieve their nuts back and return them to the tree over and over and over and over and over again!

We need video of this!

I'm sure the neighbourhood squirrels haven't stumbled across this nutty warehouse yet! Here at home, J.continues to play his part as the Peanut Man, placing peanuts along the back deck railing for squirrels, grackles and bluejays to discover, around 3:30 - 4:00 pm daily. When he wears his red plaid jacket, they recognize him immediately. Watching the interplay of species gathering up the nuts is amazing! xD ❤️️

Sweet!

I love that J. is feeding the local critters for a smile. I can imagine Sweet Pea would have LOVED to watch all the wildlife outside her window when she was with you.

Such excitement!
