Talking Meet Tiberius!

Gareth and I have spent the last few days visiting the local shelter off and on trying to decide on a kitten... and we settled on a little mellow, passive, lap kitten We have named him Tiberius, Ty or Tibs for short. He's 4 months old, was found abandoned as a kitten at around 3 weeks old and was bottle fed in foster care before being brought to the local Humane Society's Adoption Center at PetSmart. He's a beautiful smokey grey with green eyes. Now for the important part - pictures!

We're pretty sure he's got Russian Blue in him, looking at his eyes and his big ears He's such a sweetie, he's sleeping in his litter box tonight lol Apparently that's his comfy place, so as long as he's cozy we're ok

He is cute, bottle babies make great cats the are more inclined to think they are humans though. When I worked at the shelter new cats always slept in their little boxes the first few days. It seems to be their safe zone. Good luck with the new baby

Congrats on the new little guy!
He looks exactly like my Peata did when he was a kitten. I think he has Korat or Russian Blue or something in him too.
Your little man is super cute!

Little guy had a rough day and has been napping in his box all day. He went to the vet - as I suspected, he does have an upper respiratory as well as ear mites. So he's on medication every 12 hours for 10 days. But it's normal for a shelter kittie, we're not worried. They gave us an estimate for the declaw as well - I know many don't approve or like it, but with the birds I don't wanna take the chance.

I really like the vet so far, they also do birds. I asked after it, and apparently they just did an extraction for an egg bound B&G, so if they can handle that competently, they will be great I think. I'm going to apply there, they don't really have a competent groomer or bird handler apparently, so maybe I can get a foot in the door helping out there

it's more the saliva thats dangerous than the claws. cats lick the claws, thats what makes them deadly. cats carry pasteurella and should not have any contact with birds, claws or not. the cat licks their fur, gets the bacteria on their fur, and if the bird comes in contact with this and indirected ingests the bacteria from their feathers coming in contact with cat or from preening the cat, the bird is at risk of infection... and the teeth are even more deadly than any of the cats dangers. best bet is not have cat in same room with any of the birds if the birds are out.

I just found out the other day that WE carry harmful bacteria to birds in OUR saliva so should we stop giving our feathery friends those kisses we so adore?

Yep, gotta be careful! I read that you're fine as long as you don't let them stick their head in your mouth, hahaha.

Yeah, we have to be super careful. The claws are also dangerous due to the nature of burying their poo - between the bacteria in the saliva and the bacteria from burying their waste, they are very dangerous both to our birds and to us if we're not careful. My mom got a blood infection from a scratch from a feral kitten we found once.

Here's a video of Tiberius being a turd He does this most of the day, every day, when I'm on my laptop! Forgive me, I think I say one bad word in here, calling him a pain in the you know what

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...v=uLmsDmBSZDw#!

You can really see how pretty his eyes are tho, he's just getting a little gold around the eyes but they're still nice and green. The more we look into it, the bigger he gets, the more we think he has a lot of Russian Blue in him. He has that smiling face and angular features, almost a touch oriental. All in all, he's absolutely gorgeous and a sweetie He's getting big tho, already almost 6 lbs!! He was only 4.4 when we brought him home!
