:') I'm so happy today, words are not able to express my happiness. My dream is finally coming true. I've waited a long(ish) and hard wait for a chance like this! I still can't believe it, I've been scammed many times and for this to come true is unreal
Ok, I'll stop beating around the bush and get to it
I'm FINALLY getting a cockatiel!!!
I'm giddy with joy and I feel like giving everyone a hug
Here are the full story.
I posted an ad on kijiji :
I got a couple scams and 3 real offers.
One offer was if I wanted a breeding pair of lovebirds with the cage and everything for free. I refused, because it would be too much for me
Another email from the same woman with the lovies:
I do have a fella named "Birdie"* He comes with his cage and toys.* He is 5 years of age.* His story is that I was contacted and requested to take him.* He came free and would go to you free.* His first owner was a young woman who left home.* The mother was afraid of Birdie and requested I take him.* He has been housed with my two male cocketials.* He enjoyed the company but was not worked with. He does fly back to his cage. He apparently went everywhere with the young woman.* I think there is good potential of him becoming social again.
I refused that offer too because someone else had contacted me before her.
The first REAL preson who contacted me was Brittney. She has a 5 year old cockatiel named Casanova, whom she wants to give away for free with EVERYTHING because she found the perfect home for him. My home
I just got an email, confirming everything this morning and I cried for 10 minutes because I couldn't belive that this was actually happening!! Here are a couple parts of her various emails:
Just stuff about Casanova:
I don't want money for my baby Casanova. I suppose you have questions and I'll answer them honestly. Casanova is your typical colored bird, he has black toe nails that I rarely trim because they are fine and when I do trim them I take very little off. I've never trimmed or shaved his beak, i find that he does a good job keeping if filed to a nice size. He loves seeds, millet, paper, cardboard, newspaper, tissue paper, kleenex,*things he can chew. He will always sleep right next to his mirror, or occasionally in his food dish. If you place one of his mirros in front of his water dish he will most likely start singing and altering his voice with water. He does these silly water gulps and chirps and on occasion will have a very long and messy bath dunking his head in the water dish and spraying it everywhere to get his feathers wet, he'll roughly up his feathers and smile.
Now he is a very big baby, I don't feed him straight pellet food because he barely eats it, so i have to mix it with seeds and sometimes just give him seeds. To make sure that he has more than enough I always put one of those fruit or honey seed sticks hanging from the top of his cage, that way he always has extra food. Casanova LOVES to bottom feed, so I sometimes dump his left over seeds on the floor of his cage and he goes through them, or I'll sprinkle some on the table top when I have him out. He has quite the character. Oh and about food, he is a big baby because he will not eat new things unless you feed them too him. Such as if he sees mom eating a banana he will crawl up your sleeve to have a taste and even if he doesn't like it at first he usually keeps eating it with you because he wants to eat what you eat. I let him drink from my glass, he loves milk, chocolate milk, water. No pop though. When he has had enough of your beverage he may gather up a beak ful and then toss his head from side to side to spray you. He prefers to eat harder things as apposed to wet mushy. example he will eat a carrot or apple but not soggy cereal or mashed potatoe. He LOVES noodles, like plain spagetti.
Alright I could keep going but I will move on to why I need a home for him. I wanted to make things work but we have had a lot of stress lately with moving again due to a bad apartment and I*was very upset to find that two weeks ago amist moving. Casanova was picking at his flesh, he had made a sore on his tummy, the size of an apple seed. I knew immidently why he was doing this. I've had him for five years and when ever I left him alone for a long weekend he would not preen, not wash, get depressed. If I got caught up with things and wasn't spending enough time with him he would pluck out a very small feather with blood on it. Each time he got depressed because he didn't have enough attention he pulled bigger and bigger feathers out with blood. He only ever did that when depressed and feeling left out. I've tried to make things work, I bought a corner cage four feet by four feet and four feet tall. However I have not been able to give him what I once did, daily affection and flying time. So I realize now that I can not keep two cats, a boyfriend and a job while making him happy and although I never wanted it to come to this I know that if I really love this bird, which I do, I would want him to be happy. And so I would like to give him for free to a loving home.
The one that I got today :
I'm going to be honest with you, I try my best not to discriminate people and I am*shocked at your age but this is what I have to say. Just from these messages, how you wrote your kijiji ad and the way you present yourself I am certain that you are a*very mature, determined person and well trained about birds. I feel 150% confident that you know your stuff and that is half the battle, I am also confident that you will be responsible with this creature. And I am very glad that I found your ad. So my answer is absolutely yes. It is just a matter of bring him to you and his belongings. After this message I will consider Casanova yours. I am so relieved to have found such a wonderful home for him, and I know that he will be a big part of your family. I understand now about the $40 dollar bracket and I can assure you that you will have more than everything you need for him, as I said before you will get both large cages and all his things. All you need to do is buy bird feed when he runs out, but I just got him a bag so, yeah.
Wow I have to say I am excited for Casanova, and thinking about how young you are I know that this will be a really big opportunity for you to expand your flock. I know it took me a while to get Casanova in the first place. I am also greatful that you have Diego, because I know Casanova needs a feathered friend.
Sure, Casanova has a few stress issues, but I'm more then happy to give him the best home ever
I've always wanted to adopt and he seems perfect
Just wanted to share the news
Ah and thanks to everyone for reading my HUGE post
