Haha just kidding. Well ok, i was in court but i wasn't involved. All day yesterday i had to observe different courtrooms and trials and take notes. It was an outstanding experience as i got to see a murder case. Also, there were an assortment of drug related cases as well as a few robberies and theft crimes. Then there were a bunch of guilty pleas and drug rehab stuff. It was definitatly a positive experience to get a better understanding of the law and justice system, i definitatly reccomend watching a few few trials or bits of trials if you're interested in a career relating to law, even something like a police officer where you aren't directly involved with the court stuff.

I've been to court a few times where they had cases before the one I was there for - it was sad seeing so many young people in court 'cause most were drug related. There was even a man there for manslaughter - freakyy.

its sad how many crimes are basically drug related...its like 85-90%. sad...

Going to court just to watch cases is interesting regardless of future education. Scares you straight somewhat.

Yea the murder case we saw was quite a big one. I can't really say too much details about it but it was really emotional the witnesses were like crying and so on. The area of town where the court house is located is also known to be quite a high drug populated area so there were lots of drug related crimes as well as robberies as people obviously have to have a way to pay for the drugs so there's a lot of break ins in that area too. There was also an attempt in murder case but i didn't get a catch to go to that court room as i was in the murder case and it was very interesting. I did get a description of the attempt murder guy and he was walking around so obviously he wasn't guilty or else he would be in custody. I geuss it's just a whole different side of society that i'm not entirely used to. Like walking in and seeing people in bright red clothing and so on. Interesting though. I think the supreme court house would be a interesting place to go to though as that's where all the murder cases are and other big crimes. Even the family court would have been maybe interesting seeing like people our age or younger or divorces go through. It's kind of sad though that a lot of the drug related crimes were by people who were only a year or two older than us like 19 yrs old.... going to jail for 12 yrs... i mean that's probably the 'best' time of your life that your missing out.

That's such a shame. I got the chance to sit in on a few court cases, my boyfriend was a Criminal Justice major and had to for a few classes and I kept him company. I tell you, the saddest part of all wasn't watching this 20 year old man get convicted for 20 years, he deserved it. It was his 16 year old girlfriend, their newborn, and her mother just crying softly in the corner. All the other young people just stared, and you could tell it really impacted their lives. That's the sort of thing you should share and show people to try and get them to clean up their lives. It's not what you do to yourself, it's how your loved ones suffer for your actions that really hurts I ended up having to leave, I couldn't watch them any longer
