Shedding Gaia

Took some more photos of Gaia today, she's shedding right now as you can probably tell.

She is so cute! I love when I am lucky enough to catch mine in the process of shedding their old skin! Its so fascinating watching them pull their skin off and eat it sounds morbid I know, but its pretty cool to see!

So far I've never seen Gaia in the process of pulling off her shed as when she's shedding she usually hides until she's finished, lol. I have seen a video of a Leo pulling it's shed off and eating it though and it is pretty neat, ha.

It kind of grosses me out to watch my Leo do it! It looks like it doesn't feel very good either!

It's no different than biting your nails when you're nervous (shoot, I do it sometimes, I bite my fingers because I need stuff to chew on lol)

But yeah, if you hadn't said she was shedding, I wouldn't have noticed.

She kinda reminds me of a Gila monster (the colouration)

Oh she is sooo cute even when she's shedding. I know our beardies don't do it, but do leopard geckos change colour when shedding? like a snake

Yep they change color, their eyes don't though.
They get a really milky color (her body is milky in these photos while her head and part of her tail isn't because she already got the shed off there). Then once they are finished shedding they are back to being bright and happy.

*edit

This is Gaia when she isn't in shed..

And when she is...

The best way to see is when her black spots get way duller than the dark black they usually are.
