Fed my Snake

Oh my! I fed my baby Ball Python for the first time today.
I got him a live fuzzy mouse because I just wanted to get him eating because he is too thin.
Well I fell in love with that little mousy, but I did end up giving the little thing to my snake.
On the ride home it was in a little deli cup and it fell asleep hugging the paper towel that was in with it.
When I got home I took the little baby mouse out and held it for like 10 minutes and it was giving me kisses the whole time (looking for a nipple I suspect). Gah! Adorable.
It didn't have it's eyes or ears open yet so I'm guessing it was about a week old.

Now it's making me think that I want to get another fuzzy mouse to just raise to be my pet, lol. So cute!

Just thought I'd share.

Oh, ps- I'm happy because my snake ate it perfectly and I'm crossing my fingers he won't regurge and that'll mean I can start getting some weight on my scaley friend!

I won't be handling him anyways until he's eaten 3 times for me.

Aww that would make me sad I remember when I was younger I went over to a friends house and watched him feed BIG rats to his huge snakes... The snake couldn't catch the rat so he took it by the tail and beat it against his table and it started having seizures!! I ran out the door crying.. Haha! I guess that's what I get for choosing to watch that at such a young age!

Ahhh, that's horrible Meghan! I definitely didn't watch my snake eat the little mousy... I saw him strike and then I left. Poor little thing squeaked and it wrenched my heart.
I am definitely considering getting a little mousy to raise though! That is, if my Fiance will approve, lol.

Maybe you could get 2 and let them breed so you can have free snake food and 2 pet mice!

I was thinking about that but mice breed so fast my snake wouldn't be able to eat them fast enough, LOL.

You can feed frozen/thawed though and then you don't have to deal with feeding your snake a cute little live mouse or rat.

Yep! I could never kill them first, and I don't think I could watch either.

Personally I could not feed live food. I think it's illegal here anyways but everything we have it frozen. It's great he is eating though. It makes me jump so bad! I think Jacks Burmese wasn't far off 20ft

I had a Jack Dempsey fish one time... They love to eat live guppies and other small fish ... I bought feeder guppies for him and didn't have the heart to feed happy healthy fish to him ... I ended up with a tankfull of guppies..lol I only fed the sick and dying ones to him...he was my means of euthanasia .
