Unhappy Ugh, I hate trouble

Sorry guys I just really need to rant. So I have direct tv satillite. We have 4 boxes, well about 3 years ago one of my boxes went out, but it wasn't one I used really so I didn't replace it, because I knew it would be troublesome. So a couple of weeks ago another went out and we hadn't had a chance to do anything about it for multiple reasons. And today my Mom's went out, so we couldn't put it off any longer, I knew it was going to be trouble but I really had no idea. Oh my god, it turned into a 4 hour battle with them and me and my Mom. They refused to replace them unless we pay them to send out one of there guys to do a 25 point inspection on my whole house. They can kiss off, I don't know who they think they are but they are not sending some person out to inspect my house, my house is fine. The boxes are 6 years old and we've never had them replaced before, I can't believe they lasted as long as they did. You know if it would have been just droping the boxes off then maybe, even though I absolutly do not like people in my house, I do make exceptions when things need to be fixed, but my house does not need anything fixed. But really I pay them a fortune for service and I pay a lease on each box, every month and the first time I ask for a replacement after 6 years because the boxes are dead, I end up fighting over somthing so stupid, just send me the boxes. Mom and I had to be pretty rude with them, which I hate being rude and I hate fighting. We'll be filing a complaint with the public utitlies commision too. Ugh this has done my health absolutly no good, I ended up getting so mad that my body is literally shaking. And they kept questioning me about why I didn't want a service call, none of your fr**** business, its my house I don't have to explain to you why I don't want some strange guy I don't know going through my whole house, it's my house (and we are not going to be available for it anyway for quite some time). Besides the fact that I don't like people in my house, which is why I moved to a rural area, where all in pretty bad health as well in my house. But it also comes down to the principle of it, who are you to basically blackmail me into paying them to inspect my house. If there was somthing wrong with my house I would call a actually liceansed repair person. I'm just so upset by all this and so much sicker.

Awww, I'm sorry Shannon, that sucks. I hate dealing with utility companies, I'm just happy because I have Mike to deal with that stuff.
Feel better!

Thanks Kayla Normally my Mom gets to deal with that stuff, but they removed her from the account, so I had to strighten that out too. The stuff's in my name but I never talked to them once about any of it.

Merely playing Devil's Advocate here...
On one hand, I don't like strangers in or near my home.
On the other hand, have you personally tested all of your outlets to ensure they are properly grounded, and do not have the hot/neutral reversed? My last house had improper grounds and a ton of reversed polarity outlets that I had to correct.

And is the dish grounded, so that it can't send a surge through the coaxial which could damage the receiver box?

That's likely what they want to 'inspect' since that situation will just keep damaging their equipment, and since your boxes are several years old, anything they give you as a replacement is an upgrade from your current hardware, so they want to protect themselves.

Just explain to them you have a clinical dislike of strangers, that's why you live in the country. If they can understand that.
I understand they might want to test your electrics.
The trouble is if you don't explain they'll either think you're criminals or have a house full of priceless items.
They might be able to send you a piece of equipment you just plug into the socket and test yourself.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with any of our outlets or dish, thats all fine. It also ticks me off how the story kept changing. It's not just that I dislike anybody at my house, its that my house is fine and they are not inspecting my house, its they're equipment thats the problem and we have never had any of them replaced before, so its like what the heck. It's a known problem with the receivers, most don"t last a year, much less 6 years. I could understand if had to replace the boxes several times, but not only once after 6 years. I think I semi have it worked out, but I had throw a fit and tell them that I'm filing a complaint with the public utitlies cmmision, which I am and probably talking to a laywer. I probably will switch services too. Oh well, whatever.
