A fear conquered

Ever since I was small I've been terrified of horses.
I tried riding one 2years ago but it was 17hands shire horse. And I just cried with fear.
I've never held one and never been in charge of even a pony.
My kids are learning to ride and we go and watch my cousins daughter do eventing.
I think they're beautiful and hate my fear.
Yesterday we went to watch my cousins daughter do an event near me.
I met up with her at the horse box and she just said "hold this, and don't let her eat".
Before I realised she handed me her horse's rein.
I just stood there, then Dolly mixture , the horse, tried to eat and I pulled her head up and said "NO"! And the just stroked her nose.
When I looked up my cousin and her daughter and my kids were just staring at me.
Dolly was bred by them and she's been exposed to traffic and noise and sights and smells so she's pretty steady and I know her well.
I'm so proud of myself I can't tell you.
I felt like I could conquer the world yesterday.
Maybe if I spend more time with horses.....

Have you guys ever felt like this or overcome a phobia?

Woohoo, good job Kate , that is wonderful.

I do have a fear of planes and large bodies of water, like the ocean.

Bahaha, Daisy! You're funny.
That's great you conquered your fear! I absolutely love horses, never really been afraid of them. Maybe a bit too confident around them, actually.

I don't hate them. I'm just afraid, I Give them a good tickle if they're behind a fence.
I was determined not to give my irrational fear to my kids so if they wanted a pony ride they got one.
Now they're learning I'm pleased I haven't passed it on.
My son prefers the bigger horses as well.

Having fears is normal, everybody is afraid of something.

I forgot to add, germs and being put under anesthesia.

Needles I hate. I was ok til I had my boy and was so ill.
When it went pear shaped having my girl, having a cannular In each arm and then another one inserted 2 wks later for my op was torture!
To make it worse I have a wierd DNA so my veins don't run where they should. Also my kidneys are 4 inches higher than normal and my K9 teeth grow!
I'm officially a freak! Oh and I can see well in the dark.

Lol, my mom told me a while back I was some kind of mutant . I'm okay with needles, I don't like them nor dislike them. Usually when I have to have injections it's at my dentist. For the most part I'm pretty used to medical stuff, I've been around it in excess my whole life. But I'm really afraid of being put under, I haven't ever to be. But after some stuff has happened recently it possible I might have to and I'm really not happy about it.

I'm absolutely phobic of medical needles. I haven't had my cancer ones, my tetanus, diptheria and polio one and I wont have blood tests. I'm a nightmare. I punched a doctor and ran the last time I did it!

I actually love gory movies and such, but if there are like needles and it involves me, I'm an absolute mess! I hate shots and drawing blood is a nightmare for me. For my job at the retirement home, they had to test me for something, I can't remember what. I was so horrified! They blew a bubble in my skin! I can never look away when I get shots and stuff so I watched her blow a bubble with a needle in my skin. I was alright until I touched it, and then I got dizzy and felt sick and got hot and it was hard to breathe. It was horrible.
