Right now, I have a bird room, but in the coming year that may change.
We are living a bit beyond our means (paycheck to paycheck actually) in order to rent the birds their own bedroom. Depending on how things pan out with our jobs and some other factors, we MAY have to downsize and give up that bird room. In which case, I would need to drastically thin down my flock to maybe 2-3 small birds who could be kept in a cage together most of the time. This is because I also have cats. Without their own room, the birds could not have the freedom they are used to.
I believe I have local friends who could adopt a couple of them, but would anybody here be interested in taking Astrid, my whiteface pearl hen? She is about 2 years old, very healthy, GORGEOUS, but not tame at all. She loves to fly and needs an environment where she can be a bird. She is very wary of people and absolutely panics when someone she doesn't know is near. If she knows you, she will be calm around you but will not allow you to touch her. Once in a while she will fly to a shoulder, or leg if you are sitting down.
She is a lovely, spirited bird and like I said, if it comes down to it I would only
place her in a home where she could enjoy the freedom she currently enjoys. An aviary would be ideal.
If you think you are the right home and would be interested (and are in the USA), I would ship her to you at my cost. I don't know for sure that I will need to find her a new home, but I would prefer to have something lined up in case it does come to that.
