I would go with whatever you felt comfortable with. My aunt has an african grey and a macaw, she loves the bigger birds. I am terrified of macaws after being attacked by hers, and having 35 stitches in my forehead while babysitting him. I would say get to know them some more, then maybe you will know which one you would feel more comfortable with. Good luck

I would go and meet the birds yourself and get a feel for them

to be honest if it was me instead of you i would visit the grey a lot and see if we clicked because a grey was my dream bird. however that is me you should visit both and see which one you click with. when you have choices like this it is hard to make a decision so i believe the best way is to visit each one and go from there. let us know what you decide and how things go

I would pick an african grey, but I just LOVE greys so I am bias. LOL. Just meet them both like the others said and see what you think!

I would go with the IRN (if their loudness doesn't bother you) because an african grey is nothing like an indian ringneck and if you plan on keeping the other one, it would be better to get the same species. I love bigger parrots (although I lean more towards the amazons) but they do require a lot more work than irn. Kind of like the difference between getting a puppy (irn) or having a baby (grey). It depends on what you want in a pet and what you are READY to commit, time and money, not just the immediate up front cost. So what might be good or not for me, might not be for you.

I know right now in my life, just thinking about taking care of a large, needy bird is too much for me.
