Irons + birds?

Are irons (clothes irons) safe to use with birds in the house? I emailed the company that made our iron asking about non stick/PTFE and they said there wasn't any used but I want a little more reassurance. We are trying to get a steamer to replace the iron but it's out of stock on order at the moment.

Simon,
I iron clothes here. I should try to figure out if the iron is coated with a non-stick surface, but I have not.

I cannot imagine that there would be a problem with yours since the manufacturer assured you that it was made without it, but I don't want to state something and then be wrong. Lots of birds do die from that stuff every year.

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!

I guess I should trust the manufacturer "None of the Tefal irons contain any ptfe / non stick coating products."

Or iron everything before you go look at the love birds.

You are simply wanting to provide a safe environment for your birds, and I commend you for that.

Might do the ironing outside when it's not raining until we get the steamer just in case!
