Fell in love with a bird I can't have!

Right now the time is not ideal to be getting another bird. In a few months time I am going to be getting another companion parrot, but I will leave that for another post as I'm bound to be posting many things up until that point. Most of you will already know who the bird is anyway but he's coming to me under very unfortunate circumstances. However, I decided that I was going to have a snoop in the pet store who sold me Echo, my Indian ringneck who passed away from psittacosis, and the two Hahn's macaws who have unfortunately had many issues (CaptainHowdy (Amelia) has the one bird left). I was shocked that they'd even get any more birds in after dealing with us, but they did anyway. They rearranged the shop and got new cages and such, not that they're any better 'cause if anything they're half the size! They also not long ago got a baby orange winged Amazon parrot in and s/he looks very unwell anyway...

I went in to snoop around. The first thing that caught my eye was an absolutely beautiful Indian ringneck. I would say that is most likely female so I'll call it a she or her from now on. She was wrote down as a turquoise ringneck and they want 170 for her. Not hand reared or anything. She certainly isn't a turquoise. She has a yellow head and green opaline markings on her wings as well as a very pale blue body (any one hot on ringneck mutations help me out there?). She's gorgeous. But it's not just that, oh no! She's VERY friendly and not that timid considering that she is a ringneck. Nothing like my old Echo, a wild caught mess, who I got from the same store. She wanted to preen my hair and was happily sitting in front of me eating. They have her in a tiny cage even though there are quite a few large ones in the store. Her food is rubbish too. But she is just a darling. I wish I had the money and an aviary up right now. I'm having a new aviary for my red fronted kakarikis soon and then I need to get another for my lovies, cockatiels and if I haven't sold the pair of conures then they'll need one too. So I have a lot of plans to be done first and I highly doubt they'd still have her by then! Not only that, but I've now been around 3 birds that have had psittacosis from the same store. I'd have to get her tested immediately, on the same day, and then if she does have it I'd have a long treatment period ahead of me! I can't go through that again, not right now. It is the most ideal time to come across her. I wish I'd never seen her! I really hope a knowledgeable person comes along soon, because she deserves so much better I took a photo of her...

I was in that store a few months back, there were a few birds in there that looked very sick, all the rest were looking really miserable. It's hard to help every bird in that place

I did also a few weeks back... A pretty little male tiel who kept singing at me ... But I am at capacity right now as far as birds go... I don't want to get more than I can take care of, so sadly I walked away.

Pretty sure one of the budgies was half way to being dead too. The cockatiels looked like they were about to fall off their perches. It's a shame that this girl might end up the same thing is, I shouldn't even be in there. They haven't said I'm banned but I imagine I'd be thrown out if they saw me!

I'm sorry you couldn't have her, Daisy. I would buy her for you if I could. I really hope she finds a good home.

Me too Abby, and thank you. It would involve the testing too, which I can afford, but I don't know if I can go through it all again and again anyway

I can imagine that it hurts to see such adorable parrots being kept so badly.
We press all thumbs and claws that they will find loving bird parents soon.
The IRN lady is really pretty.

Beautiful bird ! If her head is whitish , I think she might be a turquoise pallid .

She is stunning, I know it must be hard. I hate going into the pet stores here and seeing them week after week just widdle away
