Ren and Stimpy are home!

I adopted Ren the budgie and Stimpy the cockatiel today! They're awesome, but Stimpy wants to test his boundaries and Ren is hand shy. I'll post pictures when I get to my computer. :P

Take your time, allow them a couple of weeks to settle down and feel more at home.

They don't seem to be really interested in toys and stuff.. Is that because they're in a new home or what exactly?

New surroundings and they're uncomfortable most likely. A lot of little birds like budgies and cockatiels don't get toys unfortunately, so they usually have not got a clue what they're dealing with

Like Daisy said, they are nervous in their new environment which is completely normal! Give them some time and just keep a close watch on them so you know when they start eating and getting comfortable.

They just need time in a new home, new cage, new owner, different sounds. When they feel safe they will be more active. Even when I give my birds a new toy they wait to play with it till they figure out it won't hurt them. And then again if they don't like the toy it sits untouched

I agree with gemini. That is exactly how it goes at my house. My budgie loves toys! She likes Slinkies, things she can chew, boings, and things with moving plastic parts/beads. The JW toy line has been a hit with her. When I first got her, she just sat there like a statue. It took her about 3 weeks to settle in and start playing and coming out of her shell.
