Just an update on my flock

Hey guys, I haven't been on here much since I've had so much work to do, so I thought I'd do a little update thread on my birds.

The new quail was moved to Al's and settled in great, we've got to get two more though as they hate being alone and often bully each other in pairs. But anyways yes he's doing great.

The linnies are doing wonderful at the moment, they've taken a lot of interest in the nest box and are constantly in there. They hang upside down off branches and play around all the time. Every time I check the nest to look for eggs I just find those two cuddled up and asleep

My quail are doing great, no problems there.

We got the new male budgie and the female has really taken a shine to him and they're now all over each other so hopefully some babies soon!

The society finches are in and out of the nest box all of the time so that looks promising.

The zebra finches have a double box to share with the other finches but the silly little things have built two nests right next to each other so I don't know what on earth will happen there!

The diamond doves mated the other day so hopefully there will be baby dovies sometime in the very near future. They're always in the nest.

Flash and Yoshi have been moved into a seperate aviary because they were tearing up all of the other birds nests. I was so upset. They'd never done in before. They dragged everything out of the finch nests and budgie nest and threw it all down onto the floor. So now they have their own aviary. They're good though, they're in and out the nest.

Ralph is now in the house with me because he did the same thing, he wrecked the nests before they did. So it's happened twise. I would not want the birds to have eggs or chicks and then two/three huge kakariki come along and rip the nest and the babies apart. Not very nice. So yeah he's now in the house.

Chewee is doing okay! We're going to start trying to harness train him because he's such a cuddlebug I'm sure he'll let us.

Joey is looking great, he has like one or two pin feathers where his baldness is so hopefully he may get his feathers back. I am really trying to get him into a harness but he isn't having it. I can get it on him but as soon as I leave him to do his stuff he starts biting it and obviously hates having it around his body. I've also started clicker training with him. I'm using a clicker that has a stick with a ball on the end of it. I like the pointer things. He is learning to follow it. And when he follows it to a posistion I want him to be in I use the clicker and give him a treat. He's doing good at that. We also plan on using the stick to train Chewee too. It's working a little bit with Ralph which is great because he hates contact all together but he will tap the stick so that's good.

Billy and Cosmo our other budgies are doing fine, their molting now and their wings are coming back

I'm even using the pointer to try and work with Chalkie. I tap the perch I want him to fly to and he gets a chick leg or something as a treat. I seriously think anybody who wants to train an animal should get one

Sorry if I've missed anybody out, but these are the guys I usually talk about

Wow it sounds like there's a lot going on at your aviary! your going to have to post some pictures Too bad about that Kak's, but at least they're ll settled inside.

I'm lucky Russel's always been pretty cool about his harness but he does chew it from time to time.

Bambi makes quail's look so cute who knew they had an evil streak lol

Daisy,
I like both target training and clicker training with birds, too.
Do you also have bourkes? If so, how are they doing? I always have to find out about other people's bourkes.
Thanks for the updates. That's good news about Joey's new pinfeathers. Did you ever decide if he was plucking or if it was something else?

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!

It could of actually been just a very heavy moult nanay. We only have a few bourkes at the moment in my uncles aviary. They're fine! They seem to get really annoyed with the kaks whizzing around them they're slow movers compared to the kaks.

And AWH they're so CUTE in Bambi! Hahahah! They're really plump!

Another little update: the diamond doves have 2 eggs

Daisy,
Go to the Linnie Forum and look for a thread that I just posted to. Unfortunately, I can't remember the topic or the name of the thread, but Jenny posted a link to the movie Paulie on You Tube. I left a message for you there about Cheech, because of your Cheech and Chong.

Thanks Shivani for the awesome siggy!
