Rosey Bourkes :)

I got two rosey bourkes a couple days ago, they are really sweet just as I'd heard, but these, two are bad at flying so I'm going to leave them to settle for a week before I let them fly around. I naked the female Penelope and have yet,to name the male. My laptops broken so I can't share a picture but I cann share the link to my Facebook and the male rosey Bourke is my profile pic

Congratulations! They're beautiful

I will say with grass parrots and similar, they all need very large cages. I know they're only small birds, but when they do start to fly they will use all of that space! They're also very susceptible to respiratory problems so keeping them very clean is essential. They're ground foragers too so obviously keeping their cage extremely clean is a must because they will have a good rummage down there

You probably already know these things, and you've probably already got a big cage AND I'm certain you keep everybody clean, so I don't think I even needed to say it but just in case

Are they handleable? Or are they a breeding pair?

thanks Daisy! I have a big flight cage and hope to let them out a lot, hoping they learn how to fly less erratically and I'm sure they will. The guy told me to hard boil eggs once a day for them, and I read that they prefer sprouts over fruits and veggies which is okay with me because I always have sprouts around

They are gorgeous! But I would not give them eggs so often, too much cholesterol and birds never ingest any food high in it so their bodies don't have a mechanism to get rid of it and it ends up getting deposited all over the place (I had an amazon that had deposits of it even in her eyes! -she died of a heart attack from it).
