"Killed" Reptar

I'll just leave this here. My conure fell asleep on his back at my feet and I straight could not wake him up. Yelling his name, poking him, giving him scritches everywhere. For like ten minutes straight, he was passed the heck out and it provided for a very cute photo/video op. I have tortoises and them on their backs is a bad thing, so I have to admit I got antsy after awhile. Even a totally different species, its odd to see them sleep that way. After WAY TOO LONG, I finally decided to give him a wake up call.

And the video of the wake up.

he is so adorable!! I've read about stories where owners will go to wake their birds up in their cage and they are "dead" on the floor, just like Reptar's position... just so happens they decided to sleep belly up that night! that would definitely give me a scare!

Too cute. Must be a nest thing, because obviously when they're older they would never be able to sleep like that in the trees

Every once in awhile he'd give a little twitch so I knew he was still alive, otherwise it was hard to even see him breathing! I only woke him up to make sure he was alright haha, he ended up doing it again a bit later on my lap and I just let him sleep. He's an oddball.

It is. Some species of conures are fed on their back by their parents when in the nest.

Poor baby was soooooo tired and mean mommy woke him up from his nice nap...

That is SOOOO adorable, oh my goodness! Apparently Caiques do this quite a lot (sleep on their backs) and I think it would give me a heart attack! Ha

Thanks, it seems so silly that they feel comfortable sleeping like that! Definitely wouldn't help too much with predators in the wild. Little dork is at it again at the moment too. He's asleep next to me curled up on his back, passed the heck out.

He's asleep again on my chest right now! I have never seen a bird so ready to just take a nap on his back every day. As long as he's semi sleepy before hand, he doesn't care if he's on his back or right side up!

You'll seriously love having one Runnergirl <3 they're just silly.

Hahaha! Classic! Gizmo often plays on his back but I have only seen him fall asleep like this in his snuggle hut... I would have a heart attack if I had to see him like Reptar! Lol!
