new flock member :)

so a week ago this little cherub was found by my neighbor who then gave her to me. she is really tame and sometimes likes her cheek scratched i still haven't seen anyone on craigslist that is missing a parakeet, so she is mine unless we do find the owner (she does have a leg band so i will be looking for the ID if someone says that she is theirs).

anyways, she is having a great time here and she is in quarantine. i take her out everyday and she loves flying for a bit and then hanging out. i need to make more toys because i was only about to giver her 2 now. i have just been busy making toys for the parrot rescue (28 toys!!).

i have been calling her "Budgie" and "Cherub", but i have been trying to think of a good name. it will be interesting what the flock does with 2 hens

these were taken the day she was found. she was really tired and sleep a lot. i put her cage half in the sun so she could get some rays if she wanted.

later i tried to wash her wing because it looked a little dirty. i dried her off some and let her sit on my finger. she was vey nice and not nervous at all. at night she will try to bite if you try to get her on your finger, so i just let he be.

her and bowie will be cute sitting next to each other because they are both rec. pied

She is beautiful! Congratulations I would make a post on parrotalert though, just in case somebody is missing her. Don't include a photo and see if anybody does? I can imagine if it was me, I'd want to know. And even if somebody does come forward you've still done good for her!

Beautiful! But, are you sure it's girl? Because I see a bit of blue on the cere and, sometimes, when they don't have the right diet, the cere loses its color and can appear almost white. Also, yes, you do need to post that a budgie has been found and, in truth, asking for the info on the band is a bit too much. I certainly do not remember what all the bands on my birds say and I've never taken the time to write it down so, I think that a description is more than enough.

Definitely female. Females that aren't in condition have the whitey-blue ceres

i personally write down all of my band numbers just in case. i can understand not writing them if you have aviaries of birds, but fir just a few i think it is a good idea

i am not looking to hard to find her owner i have checked craigslist which would be the most likely spot for someone to put a lost bird. people with one parakeet aren't necessarily going to be familiar with all of the other sites with lost birds (i didn't even know about them). it has been a week and there has been nothing on CL and i haven't seen any posters

She is a beauty!
Thanks so much for giving her a home in your flock, no matter if you find the former owner or not!

For all you know someone turned her loose on purpose, the same way they do cats and dogs when they dump at the lake. You've provided a good home, took basic steps to locate owners. Personally I say she's yours and most likely it's for the better this way anyway.

Congrats...she's very pretty

i consider her mine now i think i have made a final decision that when quarantine is done, i will clip her before she meets the flock. they are very welcoming, but right now she will fly away when i try to put her back. also, all of my birds get an initial clip when they are new to the trees; they soon learn the routine of coming out and going back and she is very curious and i don't need her going where she isn't supposed to be

i was thinking of naming her Cheerio because i used to just call her cherub, and i wanted to find a name with the "ch" because it just suits her

yesterday she was kind of going wild and not following any of my flock rules so i did clip her. she is doing much better and loves hanging out with me

some older pics
