i started to get off topic in another one of my threads, so i am making a new thread!!
i recently started volunteering weekly at the local cat and dog shelter. they occasionally get small animals too. last week they got a quaker who i have fallen in love with! i really want to foster small animals and birds, but i don't think i will be allowed too
anyways, today one of the employees said that i can open the cage and say hi (rather than starting at him!), so i took the opportunity
he was very gentle and liked kissing my hand. he was a little rough with my watch at times… he was so sweet and sometimes he would push his beak into my palm and then pull back and sing… i want too sure what that meant, probably an affectionate move
the whole thing was very special to me because i have never interacted with another parrot other than a budgie (not including the time that i cuddled with a cockatoo at a fair).
i fed him some seed out of his dish and let him kiss me. he enjoyed some of the scritches too! after coming and going a few times, i did get nipped pretty good once, but it was 100% my fault. i know your not supposed to go over and just pet them, and you should let them come to you, and i knew that when i was doing it and i got what was coming to me! after that we still got along great
i wish i could see him everyday!!!
