first bath!

My poor babies were looking kind of scrubby. They didn't have much room to move around in their old cage and apparently Pepper didn't get out of the way fast enough and Henry pooped on Pepper's tail. I decided to use a spray bottle of warm water to try to clean them up a little bit and help their dry skin (both are moulting). At first squirt, both were very scared and tried to get away on the opposite side of the cage. After just a few sprays, Henry decided "hey, this feels pretty good!" And started spreading his wings and really getting into it! When Pepper saw Henry wasn't being killed and eaten, he decided to join in. they were both soaked and happy and begging for more! They were two happy little clams! I wish I had my camera! I don't think either if them ever had a bath or were ever sprayed before. Poor babies were dusty and dirty and musty smelling, but never again!! Bath time is going to be a regular thing around here from now on!

And God said, "...let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." And God saw that it was good.

Oh that is wonderful Cockatiels can take some coaxing but once they understand it's not going to hurt them they get really into it. Did they flail around and bat bird hehe?

Thanks Karin! As long as they and I live, they'll have the best home I can give them!

That's so awesome!! I know exactly how that excitement feels when your bird takes a bath for the first time. It's so funny to see how wet they look after.

That's great! Good for you! I gave Nova his first bath this past weekend, I wish he would have had a similar reaction to yours, instead he just decided quickly to fly back to his cage in a hurry.
