African Grey

So im excited to say I'll be bringing in a Congo African Grey to my flock, my sun conjure, goffins cockatoo, blue throat conures, budgies and cockatiel are all great friends and love eachother very much. The Grey is six and was rescued from a guy who didn't have time, the couple has three birds and the women has asthma which has become very bad since getting the grey so she is adopting her out for free, she loves sitting on peoples laps and hanging out. I'mreally really excited as II've always wanted a grey and I'm curious as to how my goffins cockatoo will react when quarentine is over

Yes I'm always super careful about integration she'll have to go through puarintine first, I guess they are choosing between me and another lady to adopt to, they are meeting us both at our houses Sunday and then will decide so I'm a bundle of nerves, she gets along well with other birds, they have conures so that's good, all of my birds get along great so far, my goffins was really terrified of the conures for the first 2 years I had him but now they preen eachother and are best friends its all about slow slow integration and positive reinforcement

For some reason I can't post photos on here from my phone and I never have pictures on my laptop which is why I feel sad that I can't really post pictures here now. But yes so excited, met her today and she's a gem, gave me a kiss, they are deciding now so I'll know by the end of the night, my stomachs in knots! She has a plucking issue but I'm confident I can fix it as I fixed it with my goffins

Utterly crushed, they decided on the other home because I will be moving in a couple of months. My hearts just completely broken I've dreamt of this for so long I thought finally my dream was coming true, only to be crushed. Been crying since I found out last night, I really fell in love with her

Thanks I was really upset especially since the woman they her too gave her last grey away because she couldn't stop it from plucking and this one plucks, I was excited to help make her happy and regrow her feathers. Rescues around here are around 900 so I'm going to start saving for a rescue, maybe there's just a grey that needs my help more then her that I'm meant to be with. I get a 400$ vacation pay and I'm going to spend it on him/ her so at least I feel a bit better today because I feel determined to save for one, and at least my birds are happy as they now get to have her pvc bird stand i made, so nother toy for them. Since I can't have the grey right now I'm just going to spend the time desensitizing my cockatoo too an aviator harness so he can come on walks too he was a rescue and has really started to blossom and become more confident so I feel he's ready now to get used to the harness and enjoy some vitamin D

If you work hard you'll save up the money for the rescue CAG that is waiting for you.

Yes so I'm very excited even if it might take a couple months, and at least by then I'll be moved into my house and settled, really disappointed, but I didn't want to be depressed so I decided instead I'll be tenacious
