He is a BRAT!

Byrdina thoroughly enjoys going to work with me. He has been "joining" the kids at the tables and helping in his own way. At home he does not play with toys in his cage and rarely destroys or messes with things outside his cage but at school. . . He has discovered the joy of paper. If I am working with a group, we have to give Byrdina his own paper or he will help himself to one that is not approved. During sight word BINGO he picked up chips and put them on game boards and took others off and tried to decide which color tasted best. We have discovered how easily wooden pattern blocks can be shredded and the only reason for me to be at the white board is to give him a reason to steal the marker lids. But Snack time is his absolute favorite.

That is so cool that you can bring him to school! The kids must love it, I am a substitute teacher and I can only imagine how exciting he makes the classroom

Yes I feel so lucky to be able to take him with me. He definitely provides entertainment in the classroom and I don't worry about him being bored and not getting mental stimulation.

How is his noise level in the classroom? Does he tend to have screeching session like conures tend to have? I know it's instinct for them, and with being so attached to you and the kids I wonder if he calls for you guys during the day

His noise level is not bad. He screams first thing in the morning when I bring him upstairs to leave. He is is loud in the hallways when we arrive and leave especially if he sees or hears someone. I think this is more a greeting because if he is addressed and told "Good Morning" he will quiet down. Once we are in the classroom he is pretty quiet. If the class gets really loud, Byrdina will get loud. We have discovered he doesn't like the electric pencil sharpener and sharpening more than 2 pencils will set him off. I have heard him in the hall a couple of times when he is by himself in the classroom but he can hear people in the hall and is anticipating our return? We have only had a couple of typical conure screeching sessions so far. Hoping it continues cause he would be too loud if it was a regular occurance.

That's good to hear! My fiance wants a sun conure so bad but I worry about us being in an apartment and having the neighbors complain I would love for us to have one some day though!
