Smile An idea I got from someone...

I recently posted my thread 'for those considering a parrot'.
But it doesn't have all the parrots, and many people would like a more detailed review...

So.... Cannuk (danielle) commented and said 'why don't we make our own breed profiles?'

(Moderators/administrators please tell me if you don't want this to happen!)

We could write a sort of 'review' on a breed of parrot that we currently own or have owned!

It means people can get an idea of how someone else feels about their parrot, not just a pile of facts put into a long essay.

Theres a difference between facts and opinions, and sometimes we want opinions, sometimes facts.

Maybe the moderators/administrators could pick the best for each species, and make them a sticky for east reference?!

So, how about it??

I have already started on my one for budgies...

I think Nick is aiming for something similar in creating threads about different species, like the ones about linnies, lovebirds, and mini-macaws. I would almost like to see it that way so everyone's opinions and experiences can be shared, rather than try and pick the best of the bunch We'll see what Dave and Nick think, but I think it could be fun to make a mini-contest out of it, and maybe have that information in an opening post about the species along with all the base facts. Then let other members contribute as well.

Maybe we could combine ideas? Then everyone would get a say!

I think it is a great idea. I would be happy to contribute about any of the species I am familiar with. There are a lot of great facts out there, but not a lot of beed specific information on behavior. For example the black cap conure is a sweet and cuddly bird but is prone to dominance aggression and very territorial. That is why you see a lot of BC Conures being rehomed. Having this knowledge before hand can better prepare a person to either chose a better suited parrot or correct the behavior.
I look forward to finding our more about this project and would be happy to help wherever I am able!

This is an awesome idea! I hope the mods give their approval soon!

I remember when I was searching the internet for information on different species of parrots. There is so much information out there! I would read one article on a bird, and then be told something completely different on the next site! It was so confusing.

Thanks. I hope it goes ahead, because I think it would be really helpful to people considering parrots.
