Hey everyone

I think some of you remember when I was having trouble with my lovebird, Monkey. I've been thinking and I think what's best for everyone (human and bird alike) is she gets rehomed. I'm crying as I write this, but I know she'll be better off witha more experienced bird owner.

Thank you Mr. Peepers for the sig!

I understand your decision to re-home Monkey if it's not working out and you feel she would do better with someone else who can give her a better life then do it. I think its very brave of you to want the best for your bird even if it means letting her be with someone else.

Hugs to you.

I've posted to a lovebird buy/sell/trade Facebook group, so hopefully I'll have some luck there.

I'm sorry to hear about your decision.
Has Monkey's biting issue not become better?
If you deal with it and go on learning you will also become an experienced bird owner.
If you like to get more advice please feel free to ask our community.

Hello! I'm sorry I don't know much about your previous situation I just wanted to say I'm sorry you feel you hit this wall.

I have a Parrotlet girl who is a fiesty one. She's smaller than a love bird but she thinks she's an Amazon.
I don't know how old your Monkey is, but when my girl hit a kind if puberty stage (4-6 months) she became a terror. And I mean, she broke the skin and made us bleed regularly. It was a must for us to keep handling her everyday even if it was just for short periods of time so that she would remain tame. Also, changing up toys and moving things around can help with cage aggression. You could try switching it up to be sure Monkey has lotts of things to keep her entertained.

It's quite a process learning your Birds language and sometimes certain seasons are about "managing" the biting rather than eliminating it. Parrots just bite sometimes even when you do everything right. If you have not mastered some maneuvers yet I can give you suggestions.

If you can get through this, Monkey and you may have an ever stronger more wonderful bond. However, I know what it's like to be affraid of your own bird too. When My husband had surgery, my Parrotlet Melody became SO protective over her man that she dive bombed me regularly and just bit me on the neck!! It was no fun, but it was only temporary. She went back to normal when her world went back to normal.

I'm sure this is very hard. Owning a parrot can certainly be a challenge at times. I hope if there's anything else we can do you will let us know.

I found a good home for her and brought her there yesterday. Her new owner is very experienced with birds and he's prepared to do what he needs to to care for her. He also lives nearby so I can visit whenever I like.

That is fantastic! How wonderful! I am very happy for Monkey and for you. That is very lucky you know she's in good hands and can even visit her. Thanks for the update!
