SPX the Spikey Boy is in perma molt as we recently moved to a new home a few months back and the change in temperatures here in this new city have made molting a common activity for this poor birb. Lately the temperatures on a good day are either cool/cold and comfortable below 16°C or they are way above 30°C hot and humid causing me to put the air conditioner on to cool the place down. This causes the birb to start another molt which makes him pick and preen at himself for days/weeks/months on end. It's never ending!
I took the poor molty boy to the vets to be checked out and the avian said this year has been brutal for birds coming in with molting issues, he said the unusual changes in the weather temperatures and the problem with us parronts putting on the heating or air conditioning in our homes has caused continuous molts to many of his winged patients.
As long as the bird is eating well, playing, getting some exercise by flying around is mouthy loud and acting like his regular old self then I shouldn't worry that I have to vacuum around his cage 6 times a day to keep up with the floofy's rolling all over the place.
I shouldn't complain, I'd rather he molt as often as he does and not be a bald birb with no feathers at all.
