Unhappy Charlie's gone AGAIN!

I can't believe it. I put all the birds outside and made sure they have fresh food and water and I've been checking on them every now and again. How'd he get out this time? well, there's a little door thing you lift up to get the slide out tray and it doesn't close properly and he must have pushed it open and he got out. He was close by in the trees in our backyard and then he flew off into a tree across the road and then a stupid moterbike came flying past and scared the crap out of him and he flew off down the road somewhere. I went looking for him but no sign, I had seed, I was calling and calling him. (so were my 2 little brothers) All the birds are outside at the moment, they were calling him before he flew off.. we just hope second time lucky he comes back but we aren't sure if he will this time. So I need everyone to PLEASE keep their fingers crossed we get him back.. I'm off to go make posters, but for now I hope he comes back when he's hungry, he obviously knows where home is since he came back last time but the last time he was gone for 3 days!

I'm selling their stupid cage and getting another one, if I can find one big enough that is.. I'll keep you's updated.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear this! Well, he knows his way back like you said, so here's hoping he makes his way back again! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. I'd toss that cage too, and tie up every entrance/exit on his new one!

At least if the other birds are outside, they will call to him,he will be looking for comfort, their calls will reassure him,and he may just come back..on a side note maybe it's not such a great idea to sell that cage to someone if it is that easy for birdies to escape..just a thought...good luck,i have my fingers crossed for you..

He's home!

He eventually flew down onto the cage thank god. He went for the food first lol, and then he had a drink and napped. He kept circling around our house for awhile so he'll sleep well tonight.

As for the cage.. I've told the company where I got it from (it's not my fault it's not sercure) just waiting for a reply, if I get one. I have NO money at all so if I want a cage for them that's much better which I've found one, then I'll need to sell the one I have already.. I'll let the person (whoever buys it) know about the door for the slide tray though, it just needs to be tied up or a q-link even put on there.. I'd say it's much better for ferrets then birds.

I'm so glad to hear he's back! I hope the cage company does something for you with that cage. Have you tried looking around on the AU versions (if there are any) if kijiji or craigslist? You might be able to find someone willing to trade cages with you

Yay! I was going to be so sad if you didnt find him seeing as you already lost one...

I had these 2 goldfish, Sushi and Wasabi, and decided to get a lobster for the tank, and he ate Sushi...i wanted to take him out but my mom said there was no way he could get the other one too, but he did. And i think I felt the same way you do...because i had the chance to save the other one and didnt.

I am so glad you got him back! Maybe take a twisty tie of some sting and tie the door closed.

How lucky are you to get him back 2 times?
So glad you had a happy ending . If finances are a problem why not keep the cage and just make sure you remember to secure the dodgy door? .

I'm so happy that he's home safe!
I know cats have 9 lives. What about cockatiels?

I hope it doesn't happen again, it must be very scary!

I forgot to mention after all that it was one of my Cockatiels, lol.

But yes, I think I'm extremely lucky to get him back for the second and LAST time. I'm going to put a cable on the part where it doesn't close properly, I got them another cage last night, just need to pay for it then wait for it to be delivered.

I haven't heard back from the company *yet* I don't think they will do anything because you have to return it within 14 days and it's been longer then that - about a month.

He loves the rest of the flock too much to leave them, I knew he wouldn't go too far, and if so, he'd eventually have to come back.. one of my other Cockatiels loves him and him and Charlie are stuck to each other like glue so they couldn't be away from each other too long otherwise they'd go bonkers.

I'm crossing my fingers that it doesn't happen again, and i know you'll do all you can to stop him escaping!

I'm glad Charlie came home. He is a smart bird and knows where his food is and where he is loved.
