Talking The Nanner is progressing ...

I am often amazed that the Banana aka Nanner is so hand tame with me in such a short time, she sits on my hand and lets me kiss her belly (BUDGIE BOOBS) and kisses me back. She talks a lot and says crazy wonderful things and makes me laugh every day with some silly action she has learned.

Just last week she dove onto my coffee cup and dunked her beak in and took a sip of coffee which was mostly milk but I still screamed and was shocked at this new development. No coffee for you birb ... yer too hyper as it is.

Although she is hands on and sits on my hand or chest or shoulder and allows snuggles and kisses she is very wary of my hands or fingers. She will try and bite my fingers if I reach slowly to scritch her ... which is so sad because I want to scritch her so much. I am sure she will love being scritched because she loves being kissed and snuggles with me.

Well yesterday I actually got to scritch her for 5 or 7 seconds before she decided nope ... "Fingers. Nope. No fingers near me!" Even though I could tell she did like the scritches for however short it was, she would close her eyes and move her head back and stretch her neck asking for more before her little birb brain would think, "FINGERS ... they is scritching me with them dang fingers. MAKE IT STOP!"

So I am making headway ... slowly I will scritch this damn Banana and I will make her LOVE IT. My goal for 2018! lol

Mmmmmmm -- Sweetheart will nuzzle against my knuckles from outside the cage -- climbs up close to me, from inside her cage, for "visits." She obviously loves to scritch her head against the top bars of the cage -- but as soon as I bring my fingers close to help her with a friendly scritch-scratch, she gives me warning chittering and then tries to bite my fingers -- "No, thanks! I can do this myself!"

Today she was funny, showing her protest for noon-time news radio on the TV, with the screen all black and uninteresting. She really does not care for the news -- but instead of vocalizing her disapproval, she just sat on her lower perch, facing the television, and waited for her music station to come back on, in silent protest. Right now, she is still on that perch, leaning slightly against the corner side of her cage, with her head nestled against her back feathers, snoozing.

I think given time your lil sweetheart will lovingly come around and happily allow you to snuggle or scritch her. She's got a ways to go yet.

I love when they tuck their heads behind a wing and have a snooze, its one of my favorite times to watch them. Actually I'm usually just happy that she's not screeching and making a load of noise. LOL
