Parakeets and Linnies Don't Always Mix Well

I have 2 parakeets and 2 linnies. I SLOWLY allowed them to interact. My parakeets attacked my linnies, because it is in their nature to attack and rid their packs of weak members. Although not physically weak, my linnies are much slower-moving, docile sweethearts, which my parakeets interpreted as weakness or illness. I have them one more chance to be together, and, again, my OTHER linnie was attacked.....and received a permanent disfigurement of one of his nostrils. PLEASE be aware of this behavioral difference and the potentially lethal consequences of allowing parakeets and linnies to interact. :frown3:

Sorry to hear you have had some issues with your budgies and your linnies .... this can sometimes happen and is unfortunate. Perhaps letting these birds have their own free time to exercise and play on their own is the answer for now. Supervise them at all times and keep them from interacting together or getting near each others cages is important now.

Keep a close eye on your linnie's injury and get it to an avian vet if you see any sign of infection happening.

Best wishes to you and your flock!
