Green Rump Parrotlet

Hi,

Does anyone know of a Green Rump Breeder in Illinois? I really hate the whole shipping process. I've heard such negative things about it. And is there a big difference in personalities between the Green Rump and the Pacific? Why are the Pacifics so popular compared to the other types?

There are 17 species of p'let that exist but from what I've seen only the green rump, spectacled and celestial are available. I think people just prefer the celestial parrotlet because it comes in such a variety of mutations. The green rump doesn't have much to it and I'm sure when people started breeding them more bought the colourful ones haha. Like the green cheek conure comes in such a variety yet the maroon bellied has a much sweeter personality but it's a bit bland looking. Oh I think you can get yellow faced parrotlets too?

Anyways, they're virtually the same personality wise I think

Well, the pacifics are much bolder, more outgoing, and more feisty. They are a bit larger, and they do tend to be more bitey. The green rumps are smaller, and more shy...they take a long time to warm up to new things, such as a new toy in the cage. They tend to bite less and be more gentle. They are just as likely to talk, and are great little birds. Each bird of course has its own personality, and these are just generalizations, but, the grumps tend to be more shy and the pacifics more outgoing.....in a nutshell.
