Really Petsmart ?????

So I went shopping today to get Maxx a new bath bowl for his outside cage. I couldn't help but look at the birds. They have a Normal Green Cheek Conure listed as a Fancy GCC, and wanted $329 for it. But what got to me was they had a Happy Hut in the cage. One of the hooks was installed but the other was not, so to hunt went straight down. How was the bird to even climb in and out of it?

Before I left I went to someone in charge and told them of my concerns. He was very nice, and instantly went to the cage and clipped the other hoop so the bird could actually USE the hut. I watched him do it, and when he was done the GCC went right to it and checked it out. I am sure he will be having a nice cozy sleep tonight.

So true though, the suns at petland a lot tried to play with toys that were not properly attached.

But a Happy Hut pointed straight down, come on. Anyone knows how they are supposed to be attached.

Maybe the Conure somehow got the clip off? I doubt anyone would put the hut in their and just clip one side on.

The other clip was closed, I thought the same thing. They had a Happy Hut in the cage with the Sun Conure just laying on the ground. I don't think they knew what thy are.

Honestly I know what you mean the other week I went to petsmart to get Phoenix a harness anyways I was looking at the birds with my bf and he asked to see one of them n they guy helping us was nice enuf but then hes telling us about the bird n then he's like o ya he's a pineapple green cheek n this was just a pure gcc??? I felt bad but I was like actually that's a gcc the one over here (around the corner) is a pineapple , I'm so shocked I applied for a job at petsmart a few months back n they interviewed me and I know I am more then qualified I have had many pets and have tons of experience but they hire this guy who doesnt even know the difference anyways one of the gccs I'm pretty sure it was a yellow sided gcc was labeled wrong honestly how do they hire ppl that have no idea what type of birds they're trying to sell n how to do mislabel the species of bird lol I was shocked how little they knew or care

i am at the point of refusing to go to/ buy any thing from petco. the one closest to me has a bunch of... how should i word this.... idiotic unknowledgeable "pet" people. that is by far the WORST kept pet store- unhealthy animals, all sick dying fish, the birds are in bad condition, the bird toys looked like they were literally flung in the cage, and the worst sight have seen in the store so far~ a DEAD parakeet... i email the petco company and wrote a LONG complaint, their email was full of obvious lies, then they never email me back. as for petsmart i have had good luck with them, though the employees are still blind to the fact that goldfish do not need 10 gallon per inch of fish etc etc..... *sigh*
sorry i am rambling.. i could go on for hours complaining about this topic..

The only good thing I've seen, was a really actually good kept parakeets that were eating all fruits, pellets, and veggies and they looked happy. That one is far off though...

i wish all of the stores would give hem fruits and veggies. petco gives theirs keets sooo muck millet. IMO they give them too much like 5 sprays each day for only a few birds, i know different types of millet make up the normal food, but millet sprays are considered a treat

Big chain pet stores like that DON'T hire people that they know are knowledgable about the animals that they sell. I used to work at Petcetera (very similar to PetSmart) and they don't train you at all about the animals. ALL they care about is selling retail (pet products, they don't give a care about the animals). When I worked there they had a deep freeze FULL of dead animals that they had to keep for their records...
Needless to say I worked there for a month and then just stopped going to work, lol.

It IS terrible, which is why I try not to support big chain stores... even by buying supplies and not animals.
