Sad Face :'(

I went to PetSmart the other day to see if they sold live feeder mice (they didn't) and when I was in there I took a look at the birds (of course!).

Well they had a bunch of Budgies and it made me heart hurt. It made me miss my chattering, squawking, excited little bundle of feathers that was my little Lemon.

I miss my Budgies.

This is why I shouldn't go to pet stores...

I can't wait until we move into our own house back in BC and we have a yard so that I can build an Aviary. Then I'll have all the Budgies I want and can provide for.

I hope so! Depends on whether or not we'll have a big enough yard though eventually.

Even a 6x3 aviary can accommodate some budgies

That's true! Even if we don't have a big enough yard though I think I'll get some flight cages for in the house... just has to be a bigger house than we're in now, lol.

I think they are around $2999... crazy expensive (they sell them for more than they sell African Greys )

I know, they are about $1500 at a good breeder here though and this pet store usually marks up the pets from breeders by 2 (so if a breeder sells the bird for $1500 it'll be double that in the pet store).
I think Parrots are more expensive up here, not as many people breed them.

I'm wondering if it'd be worth it to see if I could get a Parrot shipped up here from the States, although having to fill out all of the CITES paperwork would be a pain...

That would make sense why are birds are so much where your at. It would worth a look anyway. Man thats a lot , I want a white bellied caquie myself. I didn't even pay half that for pepper.

I think a Caique would be the perfect bird for me. I want a bird that is playful and energetic and doesn't just sit there. Hermes is awsome but when he's out he just sits on your shoulder and preens himself or you, he doesn't do much on his own.
I wonder how much it would cost to ship a bird from the states and how much fees for CITES would be, because if it costs less than buying a bird in Canada I think I might do it, lol.
