Does anyone have a Brown headed parrot?

Does anyone own a Brown headed parrot? Suppose to be similar to Meyers and Senegals.
I saw a real cute baby at the breeder's aviary today. I like the bright green color and he is bigger than the GCC I am thinking about.
Let me know what you know, thanks. Sheila

Nobody here has one but I'm certain their personality is very similar to a Meyer's. I'd like to know more about them, they're not very common or well known!

Okay, so no owners of Brown headed parrots.

But, there must be Meyer's or Senegal owners here. Just want to know your experience with this breed of parrot.
Thanks, Sheila

Yeah we definitely have Meyer's and Senegals and I know for a fact that they are very much so wonderful birds! I know about them BUT I know a few people on here have had different experiences. Over all, they're not massively loud. Nothing too terrible but they can be pretty high pitched. I know they're quite mellow, relaxed birds and very gentle usually. Obviously every bird is different, you could get one that is nice and another which hates you. The poi family are very much so loved though, so there is obviously a reason behind that

Thank you Daisy.
Just read your info. Sounds like a very nice flock you have. And, you work with falcons. That is really interesting.
Saw a tiny bit of London in May of 2011. Loved it. My SIL and her hubby showed us around. They live in Horncastle. Want to visit there some day.
I was interested in the GCC, but I wanted something a bit larger.

Hehe thank you! Yeah if you look at my latest threads you will see my new falcon I picked up yesterday haha

Green cheeks are awesome birds, have you considered Quaker parakeets? They're bigger than a green cheek, super cuddly and can talk well!

bought a brown headed parrot

Well, I went to the breeders on Sunday to buy my cage, an A&E playtop. Looked at the sun conures, saw the brown headed parrot, and went home to read a bit more.
Returned Wednesday and bought Topper, My brown headed parrot. He is 4 months old, DNA sexed. A beautiful bird. Same shop that I bought my parrotlet. Hand fed, fledged, weaned, and growls. Never heard a bird growl. He is a bit timid and I am going slow. "Cause his beak is quite a bit bigger than Echo's, and he bites really hard. She told me I could take him out of cage that same night, but I think she meant for me to put him on the floor or a play stand. No, I held him. Not, not!
So, Thursday, I moved Echo's cage and my lap top to the dining room and we sit together with Topper. Took Topper till med-morning to start eating. He got a sip of water and played briefly with shredder toys. Held a foot toy off and on, went in and out of his hut, scatched his beak on his perches. Even permitted me to open the cage door and move a few things, pick a toy from floor and put it back in cup. No fright and no growling.
Same thing today. He has his head tucked right now and napping. Eats well, poops.
Plan to use Mike, the parrot wizard's, target training once I get him to accept food from my hand.

QUESTION:
Anyone use Caitec's Oven fresh bites? This is already obviously his favorite and what they fed him in the shop. He also got Tropimix for medium parrots and Higgins fruit to nuts.
I added Roudybush pellets on the first day, and birdy bread, and dried hot peppers and he ate all three. Cooked sweet potato tonight.

Any thoughts on diet. He is similar to a Meyer's or a Senegal; same family.

Pics to come.

Thanks, Sheila

Yay congratulations! It is a very unusual find so I am definitely looking forward to hearing more about him, and seeing those pictures

That's a good start that he is eating well! Pellet-wise I recommend Harrison's. For his size I would go for the 'fine' size, not super fine. He just needs the same things as your parrotlet does! Fruit, veggies, herbs, nuts, pulses etc. Provide him with pellets every day, available at all times and give him his fruit and veg etc in the morning
