Budgies galore!

We went to the fair today and went to the petting zoo and the guy had 200 budgies in the aviary. You paid a dollar to go in and feed them with seed and honey stick.

It was a feeding frenzy as soon as you held that stick out.

That worries me that they're not fed any other time.
Were there food and water pots in ?
Nice pics by the way.

They have a similar thing to that at gatorland, it's really good! They also had a sun conure in there too the ones that I have seen still have plenty of food and water, but the treats appear to be like honey with seeds on sticks, so they go nuts for it! When I used to have my mass of budgies, we used to have them fly all over to us for their millet, but they still got plenty of food and water!

if you look at the "fluffy" picture, it looks like the center of the perch is open. I think that is actually a food/water trough there made out of pvc piping.

When I went to the birds down under display at the milwaukee zoo a few years back they had 2 cages... each one had 1/2 of the birds in it and they rotated which ones were being fed watered ect... they had tiels , budgies and eastern rosellas all free flighted in the cage together.

They had a continuous supply of food and water provided from the PVC pipe. It was like melted and twisted and painted to look like branches. It was really neat. Also the guy was real careful as to no one stepping on his birds there was a lot of effort and thought put into his rules so none of them got stepped on or lost or out of the cage. He was real nice and we'll probably go see there zoo near Sandusky, Ohio. He said they have an exhibit where you can hand feed the giraffes. They also had a cockatoo but he wasn't out while we were there. The sticks were dipped in honey then probably dipped in mixed seed or millet. I wish I could download the short video I took.

We have the same thing in Mystic Aquarium. It costs $3 normally to go in (and they occasionally have free to members, we take advantage of that)
